I've been an avid fan of the series since '95, and I'm actually pretty impressed with its "re-birth". It looks pretty sick with its new hand drawn sprites and updated game play.

Unfortunately, the word on the street is there only be something like 20 characters in XII, which I don't really mind if they are all at least moderately balanced, but it is very un-kof like. In any case, I'm probably looking more forward to this title than SF4 (man, does it smell a little like the mid 90's in here or is it just me?).

This has been repeated by many people for months now. Besides, if you really want to compare a revive to the 90s the most, you would want to say SF HD Remix.

20 characters un-kof like? I don't think that has anything to with the balance issues. That's a lot of hand drawing work from snk and are you trying to request about 50? I don't think they would fit on the dvd.

I'm buying both.

 

Seeing the game in motion now its has a Mugen feel (I hope somebody is familar with this lol.). The characters seem to be sliding on everything. The HitDef seem odd.
The Guard.stun seem very quick and non KOF-ish. I hope this is a BETA.

I'm really looking forward to this as well (a lot more than SF4 for some reason)...maybe SNK will finally brake the 98' craze.
Lot's of things have changed and it reminds me a bit of Garou, ...sweetest graphics/animation/colors I've seen in a 2D fighter, and this game also sports stunning BGs.

20 charz are fine if balanced (regardless of work issues and whatnot)...I wouldn't want to have 10 bottom tier characters out of 20.

I herd that the game is a bit over 50% complete with an Arcade date of April 2009.

Things noticed:
- You can choose the far and close attack,
- it is well combined with the small dash at the start of f,f
- supers are no longer comboable so there are no worries connecting a neutral C with a qcf,hcb command super.
- slower jumps; though u can easily see and anti-air them, there is
- new clash system that makes that situation even, and the action doesn't stop.
- counterhit spin (a la garou). Counterhit confirming/comboing is a nice element.
- A+C throwing (it's about time)
- new b+C+D, a very good alternative to the block C+D (it is removed, remember no super stocks), needs more skill too.
- absence of proximity guard
- scaling/zooming depending on the characters distance

From the selection screen seems like there'll be 6 teams and 2 extra characters...
I wonder if there'll be new characters...

The game definitely does have a Garou feel when you look at the normals animations, the slower high jumps and even the hit detection seems similar.

I am really excited by this as I've been playing this game since the first one, and it's always been my favourite 2d fighter...
SFIV doesn't interest me that much, I'll try it out of curiosity but that's it...

Well, I disagree with it looking as sloppy as Mugen, but it'll probably get polished up before the ARC release.

God, that was a killer game. I had a friend who had a modified MVS board fused with a Neo Geo AES and he managed to get a cart of this a week after it was released in arcades. So sick.

Here's to hoping it'll be better!

I got two sets of Teams. Iori, Kim & Terry. The other is, Clark, Kyo & Robert.

 

Hot damn, its gotta' be Beimaru, Robert, and King. Ralf and Elisabeth looks pretty sick too, but if Yuri isn't lame she might be in there as well.

 

I'd be surprised if Clark wasn't in (he's been in every major KOF to date), so I'll say him, Ralf and probably either Terry, Daimon or Shen.

I also reckon King will be in, so she will also be one of the possibilities for my final character.

 

This has been a long time coming, the MVS board was milked like no other. It's understandable that the roster will be smaller considering the mammoth effort that has been invested in drawing each frame, yet a large roster of characters has been a trademark of the series and I'll be disappointed to discover that many of my favourites haven't made the cut (Vice, Mature, Andy, Kagura, Joe and Heidern etc).

I'd rather SNK took twice as long to add twice as many characters, each edition was only a subtle change from the last (bar the Striker system), and more often than not, in my opinion, it was to the series' detriment (the Striker system).

For me, besides Iori I desire either Vice and Mature or Eiji and Billy to be included for me to be excited. But I doubt that any of them will make it other than Billy who has a good chance of making the cut.

 

Personally, I wanted Andy back in the series. Maybe the next upgrade/sequel they'll add some more stuff, and then there's ALWAYS the console versions.

 

hehe...hardcore Rival/Iori team selection /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbs_up.gif I really like that these characters always seemed naturally evil.

But seriously if they took twice as long to make this...the game would be out in like 2011; which would really suk for some fans...and there is the risk of being outdated

 

From these characters, my main team will be Ryo, Kim and Ralf I think. I'll also fool around with Kyo, Robert, Leona and Iori as secondary options...

Would love to see Gato back, but this is very unlikely.
