The Lousiana Thread

There's a burgeoning VF scene in Baton Rouge, several players in Lafayette, and a few in New Orleans. It's about time we all started talking.

Here's the deal: the BTR "scene" is centered around my house right outside of LSU's campus, where I live with Sanjuro (Fred) and BigBoy (Richard). A few houses down live Dirty (Kurt) and Jim, not quite as hardcore, but rapidly improving. Recently moving to New Orleans for his first semester at Tulane (but always a member of Koen-Ken 225) is Sanjuro's little bro OffBrandNInja (Sean). Rounding out the list is Billy, who has never been to free training mode but who has a damned fearsome Pai. Sanjuro, Dirty, Big Boy, OBNInja and I have all done some travelling to tournaments and most of us would be more than willing to drive to Lafayette or New Orleans for some fresh competition given a few days notice. I know that at least one Lafayette player has played on the crap evo beta cabinet at GameWare at the Mall of Louisiana here in BR, and I hear that another Lafayette player has travelled to Canada to play w/ Llanfair and crew. I know that ShaperMC wants to get some games going around the New Orleans area (Sean, get on that!) and Jeffry2Strong4VF is living right here. I'm from New Iberia myself and find myself travelling to the Lafayette area once every month or 2 for that reason alone.

So: Fred and I are off on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday Nights. Richard and I are off Wednesdays and Thursdays, and we all work Friday and Saturday nights with two to three hours of gameplay after work (starting at 7:30 or 8 am) on each of those days. If anyone wants to play at our house (where we have three sticks, podia on which to place the sticks, and an elevated television for a more arcade-like feel) or to set up a gathering elsewhere in the state, please just post to this thread. If anyone wants to host a gathering in their own city, post to this thread. It's that easy.

As a final bit of incentive to organize something, Florida Super Battle, the big 3- player team tourney is coming up. Richard and I are definitely going (Fred can't get out of work), with Sean as our potential third teammate. We have the opportunity to fine-tune our games and hopefully get a few more Louisiana teams out there.

Come on, guys. It's time for an evolution of Louisiana's VF community.

Damn, the Louisiana scene is full of slackers. My excuse is school and just recently getting internet. Why isn't anyone else responding? Eh. I'm trying to avoid playing VF while school's going on, at least till next year. It's too much of a distraction.

However, me not being able to go to FSB is tragic. No, really. My role model player is gonna be there (yes, BigBoy. Kyasao is nothing on the terror of the Koen Ken 225 Lau) and I can't go. Really though, I wanted to play so badly, high level competition is so helpful. This is tragedy. This is like the last twenty minutes of Requiem for a Dream. I hear a violin in the background. Damn.

On another note, we need to start organizing a gathering here for Mardi Gras. Fred had a good plan, we could set it up at the house since there's room for several setups, then we could just shuttle people down to New Orleans for the craziness. Well, whatever. I'm gonna go piss and moan some more about missing Kyasao now, later.

Well said William I am dying for comp and if my car was fixed I would go anywhere for some fresh comp my self. Well I am down to play whenever maybe you can come chill here its only like 30 mins my boy Berry AKA BMW has a huge hd tv we play on and we can either go there or my little house.

I'm assuming you live in Lafayette? This rocks...Lafayette isn't terribly far at all & William pops over into that area often to visit family. He's actually heading to New Iberia this afternoon...I'll holla at him & he'll probably holla at you. Peace.

CORRECTION This torney will take place April 3rd and it may only be casual matches on the vf side cause everyone's so in to sc2 but hey I may still make a toreny if I can get some ppl from TX to come out here and if not just playing vf is good enough and I still live in Lafayette when ever you guys pass through or just want to play. Oh yeah thanks for welcoming me at your hime guys I will keep that in mind cause I have been going to BR alot latly.

Anyways...

We are always down. I called William a few minutes ago and left him the message that you were wanting to play...he's en route to New Iberia as I type this and should be getting the message this evening. He'll probably give you a ring tonight (Thursday) or tomorrow.

Generally though, Sunday nights are really good for the VF, but any other day of the week there will be comp at the house as we are all working different days/hours. Give us a call and you will get a reception. Looking forward to hooking up. Peace.
