    Welcome to my not so mini guide to Aoi’s throws. I set out to learn everything I could about Aoi in general. Saying that the amount of information I found was lacking would be an understatement. After reading “Leonard McCoy's Aoi Diary - On Turning the Tide†I decided to give writing a mini guide a shot. If your wondering why I chose to focus on throws it’s because I came form DOA where throwing was the best form of guaranteed damage. I remember having fun forcing opponents into playing defensive just to hit them with a throw or punishing with Spartans 6 frame unbreakable throw.

    Aoi has a very high risk reward theme with her throws that can become very deadly if the opponent fails to escape her throws. On throws 1-4 the ground grab is a guaranteed attempt your opponent cannot use a getup kick or roll away they have to break it to get away.

    Sadly low risk low reward with Aoi’s crouch throw taking the 3rd place spot in damage. It’s easy to tell /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif should be staple throws for Aoi if you want to keep your throws simple. Just like before the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif can not be escaped by rolling or get up kicks. Time for the not so mini part.

    All throws are 12 frames long the same as her normal jab.All follow up attacks after a throw should be guaranteed unless stated otherwise. I am going to use some made up terms to speed up typing this.

    [C+]= Using /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif it can only be evaded with a by rolling backwards.

    [C]= Any roll will evade /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif but the attack will beat out any get up kicks.

    [TR]= The opponent does not tech roll when they hit the floor the follow up is guaranteed.

    [Dmg;##/##]= The ## is the damage a throw will do the / adds the damage of the a guaranteed follow up attack and separates each part or a multiple part throw.

    [BK;=this is apart of the useless info BK is if the initial throw is broken where will Aoi be.

    Cl=close to opponent just outside of throw range

    Med= medium is about the same distance as the start of a round

    Far= Aoi is completely safe from any follow up attacks. Aoi is over double the distance from her opponent as Med.

    BT= Aoi's back is to the opponent

    F= Aoi is facing the opponent

    ST =Aoi's side is to the opponent

The /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is not guaranteed if it was the damage would read [DMG;40/50]to show the original throws damage and the damage with the follow up.If the opponent throws at the same time braking the throw Aoi is left side turned just outside of throw range to the opponent.

Landing this throw into a wall puts the opponent into a side turned crouched stagger also during the camera turn any inputs entered are read in reverse. For example entering /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif while the camera pans can come out /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. I'm not sure how to get the most out of this.

    If your wondering why I would do this the answer is easy. There are three reasons first being how small the Aoi forums are almost any info is good info. The second reason maybe some one will think to themselves “omfg I can make a better guide than this crap†and make there own. The third I was bored and when I'm bored I tend to do long repetitive tasks. The more info people have the faster they can improve. If you have any comments to improve this or spot some incorrect info please post. All throws tested in training mode vs Jeffry.

    Neither of those are useless.

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is a one input throw, so doing it to, lets say, punish a whiffed throw is far easier than a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif motion. I remember Myke saying how he always did /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif to punish Itazan to only have it broken: using more directions is always better. Also, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif can be a good to for ring positioning.

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif break... something NO ONE breaks. And because it can ring out and change ring position= far from useless.

    If a "hit-throw" is on the list you might as well add left punch/side kick (or is it right for SKs?) reversals that both guarantee a low throw attempt or a simple /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

    I tend to use the throws switching sides a lot if necessary. They are by far not useless, especially her /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif (please make it a wall throw again!).

    And light down attack is easily avoided after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, so not guaranteed

    I'm happy more people have actually looked at my guide, sorry I dont know how to use quotes.

    Sebo- I forgot some people may have trouble doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif I'm just use to buffer in all my throw inputs. I still believe that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is not worth using even on ring positioning it only switches sides and moves your opponent about 40 degrees to the right of were Aoi was standing before.

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is something I used only to net ring outs. While working on this guide I found out that I could use
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif to move the opponent almost twice as far and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif will push them farther if they didn't tech.Having to use it as a mix up because all of your other throws are being broken is kinda rare so I didn't take that into account.

    I'll give counters a shot tonight and do any attacks i can find in sparring.

    kingo- edited the guide and removed /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif I wish dojo was a bit more consistent. I could land this 50% of the time versus the computer in training mode against any kind of get up but timing seems like it changes depending on how they getup.

    Leonard_McCoy- Did you test the throw as /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif the the later you get a bonus 6 frames of advantage because the opponent has to turn around. So it takes 17 frames for them to block or try to evade. I've tested it all the ways I can and the computer can't escape it only other way to test is in a controlled online match where the opponent knows it's coming and can try to evade it.

    40 degrees can make all the difference based on your setups.

    Granted, yes, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is better damage wise and should be your #1 priority for /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif breaks. But in some instances a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif motion takes too long and is less reflex based.
