Ok so not cheat entirely, but to certainly abuse a system not yet thought about.

For all you arcade stick users out there with the ability to set auto fire button`s. You could vastly improve your TE`s and ETEG`s by setting one of your spare button`s to P+G on auto fire, then roll a half circle on the stick! Not tried it but I can`t see why it would not work.

That would be an awesome way to always eat counterhit launchers when trying to escape throws.

Sounds useful for major disadvantage situations actually, just let go of auto-fire on time so you do not eat CH launchers like you normally do in a match if your too late.

I'd love to play the moron who thinks this would be a good idea. I don't know about you guys, but if I played someone using this technique I'm going big every time. The only guessing I would have to do is guess whether it's a TE for a non delayed launcher or a ETEG for a delayed launcher.

to sum up what generic said... FAIL!

Where is that XM Dominator video when you need it?

This is bullshit...There's no way to shortcut learning this game.
Anywho the object of the multiple TE's is to avoid getting caught with the major damaging throws most of the time IIRC. I'm quite sure i speak for everybody when i say you rather lose 25-30pts rather than 55-65pts (Depending on character.)of health at disadvantage if you miss one input.

Why are some people so upset over this?

It's clear that ultralewis has a limited understanding of how multiple TEs work. Based on this limited understanding, he has proposed what he thinks could be an exploit, or a cheat.

People are quick to point out that it won't work, but nobody has said why, and instead have resorted to insults? [IMG] How does this help anyone? Why not take the opportunity to educate your fellow VFer?

The reason why it won't work is because a single TE input needs to last for 2 frames or more. Depending on the frequency of the autofire, if it's generating an input of 60Hz or faster (i.e. 1 frame or less), then the TE won't even register.

But if you assume that the autofire is slow enough to make TEs register, then...

The reason why it's a bad idea is because when you're entering TEs there's the potential for your throw "escapes" to become throw "attempts" if you're not holding G at the end of recovery. As Jeneric mentions, a throw attempt (i.e. a whiffed throw escape) from a large disadvantage is a terrible option as it's likely to be counter hit, with a potentially huge combo to follow.

yo ultralewis nothing wrong with thinking outside the box bro.
i too try to come up with ideas.. some work, some dont, its always an uphill journey when u play VF. It helps to ask questions and get good players thoughts, cuts down the learning in half if u ask alot.
I just started training with pai, so ill come to u for questions.

btw thanks for clearing that up MYKE.
that 2 frame input window. I was doing or trying at least to do 3 throw escapes and sometimes i wouldnt break the throw. I figured i was doing it too fast or jamming the stick, i started doing it slower and more crisp and the TE became better.

thats brings me to my question myke.
Say if im -9 or like -3 how do i calculate the number of frames i have to break a throw? the bigger the disadv the lesser the frames i have to break? also, i have been told by flash that I have like 10 frames to break a throw before the throw and i have 11 frames after the throw input to break.. but neways my question is how do u do the calculation. The reason is so i know if i have a less time throw escaping than i mind as well do like 2 instead of 3 for consistency, or if that way i can figure out if i wanna sacrifice an eteg for a attack after a successful evade like a single palm.

There's nothing to calculate and what Flash told you is correct. You have 10 frames either side of the throw activation to enter the throw escape. This is a constant, so the amount of disadvantage will never change this fact.

The reason why it's often explained as 10 frames before, and 11 frames after the throw is that the throw escape window can be described like this:

10 frames before act + 1 frame act + 10 frames after act

The 1 frame activation is included in the 10 frames after for a total of 11 frames from when the throw is active (i.e. where it can grab you). Or in other words, as I said earlier, you have 10 frames either side of when the throw will actually grab you to enter the escape.

Just note that for small to medium disadvantages (up to -5), you can simply fuzzy guard and don't need to employ any TEs.

Breaking staggers? Wouldn't holding turbo P and turbo K and non turbo G work?

That would work, but I imagine it would be impractical to be moving your fingers off of your primary P and K buttons so that you could hold down the turbo'd P and K buttons elsehwere on your stick, all the while still holding G in that split second you're staggered.

And besides, while one might be able to handle the finger gymnastics required, it would be considered cheating [IMG] Same goes for turbo'ing TEs while holding G (assuming they even worked).

Nope that won't work, you can't break throws while holding G even if you have another button assigned as a guard

That was one of the first things I tried when I played VF.

I figured if I could block and put in throw escapes I would be unstoppable.

Ah, that's good to know. Otherwise pad players that map buttons would be instant cheaters in my books [IMG]
