The speed of VF play in wmv clips....

Is it just me or is the speed of VF gameplay in most wmv movies seems a little faster than actual play.... For some reason seeing lei fei move so much doesn't seem the same in actual play. Is it because playing an actual game yields much smoother framerate? Dealing specifically to lei fei, it's probably that I can't dance as well with him as most players in the clips. I've tried to duplicate the moves but it just doesn't seem as fast as watching lei fei move in the movie clips. Any comments about this observation would be appreciated. Or if anyone can give me some pointers on how to step, kick cancel, stance change to make characters seem to move fast should also share your knowledge. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

That's the first thing I said when I saw the first couple of Evo clips; I felt it was a little bit faster than usual. But I convinced myself that it's either due to a higher constant frame rate in Evo, or it's just my imagination (Which is more likely /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif).

I didn't see that with the regular VF4 clips though. And are you reffering to wmv clips specifically, or clips in general?

Well you have to take into consideration of the encoding. Most stuff will be runnng at a framerate of 29.97 frames per second interlaced...

The framerate of the movie doesn't matter, if you do some giant punch and your arm is half extended at frame 30 in the game, it will be half extended at frame 15 in a 29.97 fps movie.
    To the original poster:

If it isn't your imagination it could be:
    1. Poor encoding - if you encode at a certain speed and demand that audio and video be interlaced a certain way, the video can sometimes be forced to adapt to the playback rate of the audio. This is unlikely unless the wmv's were originally compressed avi's or something else.

    2. Your graphics card - graphics cards do affect your ability to play movies as well as games. Mine runs software quake faster than it ought to, so yours might do something like that for movies. You could try turning hardware acceleration down a notch and see if the movies look the same. Right click on desktop -> properties -> settings tab -> advanced -> performance.

Odds are good it's your imagination, maybe these guys just play with a quicker style than you're accustomed to with the locals /versus/images/icons/wink.gif
