Yeah I had listened to this on testyourmight the other day.

I'm glad I'm a part of the VF/VFDC community, because it's the most welcoming and respectful of the communities I've been a part of for fighters.

SRK is no stranger to this type of behavior(take a look at PowerUp of recent), but as far as it going to the admin level that's some DOA exclusive corruption as far as I know.

Excuse me, i have an unrelated question: I couldn't help but notice the dude's vids are basically recordings of his computer or screen. But lots of VFdc'ers apparently sat throught the whole thing. So my queston is, if i take a camera and film the screen you'll consider it watchable? I'm asking because i have 100something replays i've been wanting to dump for ages but i thought i have to wait until i find a setup that will allow me to transcode from the xbox's TV out with decent quality.

 

I listened to it. I did not watch it.

 

Dang. Props to that cat Tom for keeping his cool through out all of that bs they tried/did to him. Not suprising that cats would be on some shit like that though.


Oh yeah, never played DOA4 (cept demo but) but, lmao at when dude was talking bout Hyabusa having a ill damaging Izuna drop on certain stages in the first round. Then some tourney/matches or whatever comes up with 5 rounds(or whatev) to win, but only one round per match so the big damage stage move can be reset for him after every round. lol, CMON SON!!

Its crazy to watch those tourny vids again now that I know it was set up for an easy win for master. what a travesty.

 

Myke, after my "negative comments" i noticed that people kept posting about this. This is why i inquired. GodEater mentioned i am suposed to listen the vids, not watch them.

So i forced myself to listen through. Even the 2 bonus vids. You are right: the point of those vids was lost on me. I don't care about people's dirty laundry. Not when it's about a video game.

 

VF community rocks, definitely. <33 And what a great game VF is, but we know that already.

It seems like things get nasty when money and "power" get involved, as I watch close friends begin to bicker, separate and stab each over these fighting games. I would think to myself, "wow, this would never happen in the vf community." All the sponsors, empty fame and false hype are juice for the drugee.

I've watched groups of strong players go to random tournaments and demand that the entrance fee be raised. I've even seen brackets at some big tournaments get hacked and screwed into certain player's favors.

Alot of these "top" players in some games are the type of people I know for a fact I wouldn't want anything to do with. These dudes are always looking for handouts, and are completely selfish. I know someone that went to a gathering at a house of top players. He brought a bit of food with him, sat down to play, and around an hour later these dudes had the nerve to cook and eat his food! But I do like when Sanford Kelly comes into town and gets bodied up and cries about it.

 

The point of those videos is still lost on you. This isn't about a videogame. Far from it. It's about a person dedicated to trying to build a community while investing lots of his own money, only to be spat upon and stabbed in the back. I'd be pretty mad too.

 

WCG USA and World Finals '08 had these settings. You're probably thinking of the Asia/South Pacific Finals '08 which were played in Singapore I believe.

At US Finals all the players objected to this and explained this would give Shun an unfair advantage but the judge wouldn't budge from the printed rule set that WCG had approved upon. (These rules didn't detract Denkai from picking Shun in a few matches. )

I refereed the WCG VF5 US Final in '09 and had WCG organizers change their rules to the standard settings. I think they had standard settings for the '09 final as well.

 

Side note: Myke... whatever happened to your signature saying "Bring the players"? Now it's Kill Bill??(the wiggle your big toe part of the movie, seemed like a very pivotal and key scene for the start of it all)

If so, I agree, and your signature is very fitting for the current state of the game.

 

I was a bit more involved in this scene than most people here (went to the WCG nationals in 2007, the first CGS combine, and one minor tourney), and I have to say, every word of what this man said is true. It's true about DOA4 being garbage, it's true about the crooked politics, and it's true about the ungrateful community. The way Tom Brady was bashed around there, since pretty much day one, you'd assume he was the worst person in the world. But I actually had the chance to meet him in person once, and I'm sorry, but I just didn't see it.

Now you guys know why I dropped DOA like a bad habit the second the tournament scene dried up. Sometimes I do get frustrated with the VF scene, what with Sega refusing to release a new game for consoles, the slowly dieing community, or the egos of certain players. But it is nothing, nothing, compared to the shit that did and continues to go on in the DOA scene.

Back then when people had interesting things to talk about you LISTENED..His story was interesting all almost movie like. Was it true i don't know but it was very interesting. No different than a Audio book but ummmmmhhh Last i check did'nt his youtube vid say it was Bradycast? PWNED!!!

Yeah he was dedicated and i give him the utmost respect.
