    Re: Vanessa...

On the contrary I think a good case can be made for Vanessa VF4 > Vanessa Evo!

    A very strong case actually:
    - More advantage on block opportunities
    - More special high attacks
    - [6][P]+[K] is better than [6_][K]
    - [6][P][P][K] is just too good...and not the Evo variety
    - [G][8]/[2][P]

    Though there are disadvantages:
    - No [3][K][K], an awesome move
    - WS [K]
    - Better throws in Evo, comparing OS/MT only

OK, I admit that I come from a background of Wolf and Aoi, so I was not at all comfortable with that sort of offensive gameplay. I guess I should have said it was useless to me, not necessarily others. I only ever used it as a shock tactic very briefly. To me at least, the all round play that is possible with the new stance is much better. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have a question. What is ARE? I know what ARM is, but not ARE, thanks in advance to whoever answers this.

Re: Adding to the stupid questions

Actually back to Vanessa, I've been having a go at working her out again and I haven't been having much of a problem with the defensive stance but in the offensive stance I seem to get myself into all sorts of problems. I understand the guessing games it sets up with the catch throws and stuff but I'm not really sure what to do when I'm at a disadvantage apart from ETEG etc. I guess I have been spoiled a bit with my other characters with their sabakis and reversals etc. Is there anyone out there who can give me a hand? also, one move in paricular that I haven't worked out is [6_][K], can someone tell me how to use that? I had a look at the guide under the vanessa heading but that was not for evo.

Are you kidding? [6_][K] is one of OS Vanessa's bread and butter moves! Basically, alternate the high kick with throw and elbow/dashing knee whenever you have advantage to force a nitaku situation.

[6_][K] on MC will give you a head crumble, in which you can then combo with [6][P][P][K] or [3][P]+[K][K]

Yeah, though it hit its special high (i.e. it'll beat low punches).

    some more vanessa questions

sorry to bother you again. I was just wondering if you could help me with a few more things I can't figure out yet...

    1. The timing on stomach crumple, [2][P], [3][K]
(I can get the float alright because I have had practice at similar things with Aoi and Goh, but I can't get the kick to come out except as a light down attack.)

    2. Any follow ups for [2][P]+[G] (offensive stance)

    Thanks

I don't think this requires any timing, you just need to hold [3] before you press [K]. Try holding down [3] during the recovery of the [2][P], and then pressing [K] when it's done recovering.

if you went to the Vanessa section or did an itsy bitsy tiny search, you could have found this out yourself, no?

1 - don't go to neutral ([2][P] (neutral) [3][K]) but [2][P][3_][K]. If you just push the stick right, it will work.

2 - I suppose you mean OS [2]+[P]+[K]+[G]. If the opponent lps, then your [6][6]+[K] ([6]+[P]+[K]) will catch him in the act. You could also go for [2]+[K][P][P], which when the first hit MCs, will guarantee a pounce. Dash and throw is also effective. Vs AI, [6_][K] is best imo.

Try NOT returning to neutral. So keep your thumb (assuming you have a pad) on the [2] and just roll to [3] without lifting your thumb.

    Re: some more vanessa questions

A better followup to Vanessa's [6][6][K] counter hit, is to delay a bit and do [6][P]+[K], [3][P]+[K],[K], and then a pounce attack if they don't recover from the beatdown. They can still rise faster than the pounce connects, but they have to struggle very hard to get out of it. If you want guaranteed damage, do a light down attack.

The difference between this and the regular [6][P]+[K] followup is that if you input the [6][P]+[K] right away, you get her canned takedown followup. This has potential for more damage, but it also can be escaped alot more easily. If you delay a second and then do [6][P]+[K] , you'll get the elbow and then you can do the beatdown combo that follows the elbow, adding up to some pretty serious damage.

Thanks guys, that's been really helpful. I did mean [2][P]+[K]+[G], but I was a bit tired when I was typing.
