AKA The New School kids ask questions about Old School VF community and VFDC.


So I've been stuck in a programming class jumping ahead of my instructor and I'm reading the Vault forum. Holy shit some of these topics are straight hilarious. Even more are really hype too.

It amazes me how many dudes posted a lot back then and suddenly drop off the face of the earth. I guess life caught up with them or they lost interest in VF. Still, really fun topics to pull out.

 

Makes me wish I was around for VF2 and 3.

I missed out... (I was playing TFC/Myth/Fallout though)

 

heh, I tend to forget about the vault since Myke sticks it way at the bottom (so sad) but seeing your post let me stroll down memory lane. so fantastic.

you're right though. tons of people have moved on. for some, I know, it is just life getting busier and more demanding of your time. something has to give.

It is not too late! we still play VF2 and VF3TB here (although sparingly)! I only just finished another custom stick for the arcade boards for a - sadly - aborted trip to Boston.

That trip WILL happen. GE's triumphant return to the States. Hopefully coming soon...

I remember how VF talk almost completely took over rec.games.video.arcade. It had to be like 80% of the posts there, as if no other arcade games were played, as far as usenet knowledgable people were concerned. Heavy scene in Singapore helped us out. Too bad the Singapore guys that are on VFDC don't contribute more to the dojo here. It is a different generation. Ten years too early... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

 

It would be interesting to know how many players still play VF2 and VF3 in NA.


Random note: Holy cow, I'm going way back now into the vault, and back in those days the UK guys were freaking crazy, some of these old threads have some serious smack talk.

ahh vf2 brings back memories of playing in my friends bedroom while he used his crappy stick and forced us to use his pad since it was his game. ah good times. I miss those bgm's anyone know where I can find them?

I used to play it exclusively at the arcades, it was great!
