... are there to show the players are on the same team. Thanks to yamainu for clearing up something I'd always wondered about, and I know some of y'all have as well.

hmmmm....then why is there sometimes both players with the little floaty balls and others simply one? As in the Latest Daioh vid.

The first time I ever saw it both players had them. But in the Daioh Vid, (daioh_ero021130_4.wmv) a Wolf player has it but the Akira does not and their Clan symbols appear different (but maybe I'm wrong about what those images mean) and then later on the goh player has it but his opponent does not.

The team designations probably aren't determined by the machine, but by vf.net, which means the players have the option of firing up their cell phone or browser and arranging it with their buddies. You can still play against other teams or your teammates. Maybe the balls can be turned on and off.

To be a little more specific, there are two types of those floaty balls: Dragon (red) and Tiger (yellow). The "teams" they designate is related to which Quest they've taken on, and it's entirely optional. It's like a way of dividing up the players up into two groups, or "teams", dragons and tigers, and an example of a quest, say, for a Dragon member is to defeat 5 Tiger members consecutively.

So apart from looking for same ranked opponents to fight all the time, there is now incentive to fight other people if you've take up one of the Quests.

That's why you'll see two people on different VF teams fight against each other, but have the same floaty ball over their head. It's just a coincidence they've joined the same Quest group.

No, this is totally, totally wrong. Same team people have the same icons under their name. The floaty balls show up during times whenevent quests are running.

this is how it was explained to me. Can you be more clear? when "Even quests are running" = ?

VF.net holds event quests from time to time. Usually it's either:

    1. Defeat people that have the "dama" balls abve their heads (some do, some don't, it's random.)
    2. You aer randomly assigned to "Ryuu" or "Tora" groups. In this case you must defeat a specified amount of people from the opposite group.

By finishing these quests, you get colors/items. They only run for limited amounts of time.

The "Omo na kyu" quest doesn't generate random balls (man, that almost sounds dirty). Everyone in the quest will get one, and then some not in the quest (perhaps people doing normal quests -- never researched hard enough). I suppose the people not doing the event quest might be random.

The Ryu/Tora thing, you get whatever your team is, and they're gone once you finish the quest. The "omo" ball is there until the event quest is over (the time limit) or until the next quest starts -- depends if VF.NET is screwed like last time. I had that damn thing over my head for a 5 days after the quest was over.
