i was wondering, how do people feel about the changes that were made too thier favorite characters in VF5R. i play with shun and the footage i've seen so far shun has a whole new bag of nasty longer string combos ,throws from the floor and random kicks in the middle of punch combos imo i thought he was the most tricky character to play with and against now he's been made more dangerous i cant wait til VF5R hits the states!!!!

The More things change, The More they stay the same. There will be newer exploits and more shit to cry about.IF anybody thinks that VF5:R will save you your sadly mistaken. Sad part was people up here used to praise how balanced VF5 was. Wait till R drops. The Pandora Box will stay open and im still open for the challenge.

BTW Shun is on some real bullshit now. Everything that Brad Wong had and Shun did'nt he now has and he's extremely dangerous. Seems like Sega was was paying attention to a certain developer lol!

Who the fuck is Brad Wong? Anyway game companies borrow ideas from each other
all the time. Nothings new. You can even argue that just because someone put in
in their game first doesn't mean it hasn't been thought of before by another
company.

I can tell you one thing. They'll probably do something about Jeffry's damage. It's a little on the ridiculous side...

Just a tad...XD

Well, since I hardly see any videos of Akira, I have nothing to say about the changes on him. However, if his command list really change, I will like to see it for myself.

He is the drunken kung fu fighter from the Dead or Alive series.

Hey Van is up there on the insane damage list as well. Though there is no question that Jeff and Wolf are the top 2. Their wall damage potential is just unbalanced.

Actually her damage is one of her weaknesses in my opinion. It doesn't get any better really than around 70 points, at it's very best. I have combos for big damage, but they're training mode only type deals ya dig. Her ability to stay safe, and moves for every situation is her strength. I pay for that safety with avg to below avg combo damage.

Imo Jeff and Wolf SHOULD be the damage beasts.

I agree to a point. Understandably they are the power houses of VF. However when it comes to their wall damage potential and bouncing options from there, its a bit out of control. I cant speak in regards to VF5R since I have not seen but a handful of videos, but in the current version I don't understand how the damage they can do off walls is considered balanced or justified. Many characters have some intense wall and bounce damage potential, they however have the largest. And to be honest, Wolf would be number one on that list.

Stay off the wall you have more than enough options NOT to get wall bounced.

you dont see big ass wall combos happen often in 5, so i dont think they would be any more common in R.

Just cos jeff could potentially fuck you up for 200 damage off 1 combo, doesnt mean its feasible for him do to it

I don't think the above two reasons are justification for that potential. First of all staying away from the wall is not necessarily the problem. Both Jeff and Wolf have the ability to get their opponents to wall very quickly. Sure there is defensive maneuvers that can avoid the damage but that still does not make it balanced. Secondly if someone can pull off a single 200 damage combo it does not fall under the feasibility category here. That is strictly a matter of skill and opinion. If the option is there, its there. How is that considered balanced?

I don't want a bunch of people jumping on the OP band wagon topic here. Just arguing that wall damage from those two characters specifically is not equally balanced when compared to the rest of the cast. Jacky, who was nerfed from B to C, is a perfect example. He had several extremely powerful wall combos. The bounce options were unbalanced and extremely over powered when compared with others. Most importantly it was justifiably done. Its not out of line to say the same needs to be done with Wolf and Jeff who basically make the wall and ground their own personal trampoline.

its a similar case as previously regarding the 113 pai no wall combo by jeff.

ever seen 466P+K landed in a match video? im guessing no, i know i havent.

200 damage was an exaggeration btw, the highest i seen is ~140 off a wall combo, which Jeff can do in VF5 ANYWAY. just look at the bs that highkick pulls sometimes in 5, or in the videos by TranJeff for 5.

the spacing and distancing from the wall required to initiate these combos is very precise, its extremely difficult to set one of these combos up, let alone actually land it with proper timing in a match. i dont see any evidence to suggest that they have made it easier to do those wall combos in R.

btw, in 5, Lei-Fei can get some really beastly damage off a MC fully charged arrow punch. more than a standard Jeff Knee combo anyday. and its without wall!!!!! oh shit, IMBA IMBA IMBA /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Jeff and Wolf with those combos are NOWHERE near OP. Pickup Jeff and see how far
you get with him Auvii before screaming about balance eh? Jacky with the nerf
imo is still very good AND does better than Jeff in tournaments. OMG an advantage
for one of the riskiest characters in the game?

GTFOOH. (Get the fuck out of here)

It seems they looked to Tekken 6 for inspiration for the wall game in VF5:R, which is strange considering not even Tekken players like the wall game in Tekken 6. Outside of walls, damage seems high, but not too much. VF has always been a high dmg game after all.

It's strange though that throw damage gets slightly adjusted downwards while striking damage goes up. Yet again, I think Sega have been looking too much towards what currently hot in the arcades...

I wish all 3D fighters just removed bound/bounce/spike from their games.

BTW, Vanessa is definitely NOT below average in dmg in 5. Her risk/reward game is awesome, and heavily scaled towards the latter.

What makes Jeffery one of the most riskiest character in the game? do tell please, I'm curious. It sure isn't because of the Knee definitely not double upper and sure as heck not double hammer. I wouldn't say hes the most riskiest especially when you consider the rewards he gets in return..Just my 2 cents

I never said he was OP'ed, either of them. I clearly stated, multiple times, that their advantages with wall combos was not in balance with the other characters in game. Not once did I say they were too easy to pick up, over powered, or in any way the best to choose for tournament play. When it comes to their wall combos and bounce ability combined, they have an advantage in terms of damage over other characters.
