Has anyone here ever completed (evo)Throw Escape Challenge A (QTE) using the DUALSHOCK 2 pad? I don't have the money for a good quality stick nor do I have the time to build a kiss-ass stick like Catch22's. I read the posts on this challenge, but everyone who said they beat it was using a stick. I've gone into free training, turned on frame display mode, and timed myself doing the throw escapes and the best I can do is 21 frames (usually 22-24). Isn't 20 frames the max possible after a throw counterable move? This is the only challenge I haven't finished yet and it just keeps eating at me. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif Maybe I should resign to my fate with my pathetic controller, but I know I won't allow that. Please, someone give me hope. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

    E-QTE on a pad

EDIT: I've done the one where you can evade and then do four throw escapes on a pad... I havn't tried the one without the evade...

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-
I've done evade, QTE multiple times before on a pad (I think it was a PS1 pad actually)...

The secret for me was to dodge down, and escape the down throw first... So it looks something like:

    (attack), [2], [2]+[P]+[G], [4]+[P]+[G], [6]+[P]+[G], [P]+[G]...

It took me a while to get it, but once I got it once it became much easier... Namflow can also do it on a pad, so I'm not the only one /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yeah, E-QTE is MUCH easier, especially after a successful evade. I think I got the most satisfaction out of beating the Guard challenge 4. I had a mini-celebration. I have noticed, though, that when doing the QTE challenge that if I escape a neutral throw as the first one in the sequence it is very hard to even come up with a TTE. However, this challenge has pounded TTE into my motor memory and I can TTE with 'relative' ease.

How do you did stagger challenge? I still can´t recover Lau´s throw even 2 times in a row, no matter how hard I try. Big problem for me. Just what´s correct technique? I press [G] down correctly and smash buttons but it wont work....

not sure if all pad players can say the same as I can. But usually on a pad, it's easier to struggle back and forth while holding guard and tapping one or two of the other buttons rather than trying to do a 360 motion for the digital pad. Maybe that will speed up your struggle. Depends on how you hold the pad as well. I use my pointy and middle fingers when I tap the buttons on the pad. So I'll hold down guard and tap either p or k while moving the pad left to right as quick as I can. Hope that helps out.

I couldn't do Lau's stagger challenge more than once in a row until I did this. Set up your controller so that R1 is punch and R2 is kick. Then, go into the challenge and lay the controller on your leg. When you have to recover, hold guard (square) with your right hand thumb and mash on R1 and R2 as fast as you possibly can and using the entire length of your left hand index finger swipe back and forth across the D-pad until your arm hurts. You should swipe in a left-right-left direction so that you get the best chance of not ducking into the punch when you recover. When I tried the challenge this way I beat it in a couple of turns. This method also worked for me on Wolf's stagger challenge and I noticed that sometimes he will hit you with the second punch and you still get credit for the recover. As for my initial post, I did manage to get a couple of QTE today, so I hope to have completed this soon. With a pad, even. (Snagglepuss)

personally, i just held down guard and madly ran my fingers over the direction part of the pad /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif and it sure worked for me.

I JUST BEAT THIS MOTHER FOKKER WITH A PAD!!!!!!! And oddly enough, I did it the EASY way. I set my L1 to be K+G and my L2 to be P+G. Then, I did a throw guaranteed move with L1 and used my index and middle finger to alternate presses on L2 while randomly pressing the forward, back, and down directions as fast as possible (with some neutrals obviously thrown in). Once I got the rhythm down, I beat this mission in under 30 seconds. To all the pad users out there, IT CAN BE DONE. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

You're right about shadowcatcher's advice on the struggle recoveries. I was talking about beating the Quad Throw Escape Challenge (TE Challenge A) with a pad. Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Just finished it on a stick. (With Kage and Akira).

I actually started with df[K] neutral [P][G] then [2],[4] then [6]. (AND NO BUTTON BUFFERS!)

    Now onto fuzzy guarding! /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif
