1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Yea, it seems like it. Another old DOAC member here too.
Yea I noticed that side stepping and back stepping is a lot more focused on than any other 3d fighter. Since the AI in the demo doesn't do jack most of the time, how would I practice this? My only guess is to get a friend to play versus and practice with that. Correct me if I am wrong.

In VF all around movement is more important than crazy canceling like say BDC in Tekken.

I HIGHLY suggest you find someone to play with, even with the AI getting spacing down is very difficult.

Since we seem to have an influx of DoA players here lemme point out some huge differences between the games:

    #1 You can sidestep attacks
#2 Backdash actually causes things to whiff even from disadvantage (this is move and hitbox dependent but basically know that Backdash is ALOT stronger in this game compared to DoA)
#3 You can crouch backdash by doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif, you can cancel back crouchdashes into a lot of things, a way to move back quickly is to back crouchdash canceled into another one and so on and so forth.
#4 All dashes and evades CANCEL INTO EACHOTHER, otherwise you cancel backdash into evade, evade into forward dash, forward dash into back crouch dash into evade etc. etc. They don't cancel automatically as there is a preset amount of frames before canceling is possible but just so you know.
#5 ARM aka Walking around by doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub_.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf_.gif can be evasive as well, although it is dependent on your character, for example: Eileen has an insanely fast ARM speed by Akira has a crappy ARM speed. For more information check the WIKI which you can access on the upper left menu called "SITE MENU" go to "Vitua Fighter 5" >"System"

But you can lose VF matches by not lading punishment opportunities aka juggles. There are enough changes from each number iteration of vf that it will eventually hurt your game. I had to stop using VF4:evo jacky because he had a couple of tools in that game that were taken away in vf5 so it was messing me up. Just something to watch out for.

Also don't really worry about tiers in this game unlike doa the tiers are very close. Aoi was thought to be bottom tier and she wins tourney's.

I believe this is due to the VF coming out on xbox for the first time, lets welcome the xbox players and help any way we can. Having more players is always good. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

yeah we just need to make sure we explain to them the differences between the game clearly so they're not like "wtf you can't do *blah* this game is so broken."

  6. I'm another DOA4/DOAU transfer. WIth online play, that game now definately can keep my attention. I play as Lion. I've definately noticed this game isnt so much about juggles as it is advantages and disadvantages. I mean you can usually hit someine 2-4 times as they're in the air, but not more then that typically. WHere as in Doa4 you usually can hit people upwards of 6-10 times in the air alone it seems.

I would love some training matches with Lion if anyone is interested. My gamertag is slayerfaith1982
