To the Virtua Fighter Community ...

Hey everyone,

My name's Ben, and I'm the host of AlphaISM Radio. This is an online radio show dedicated to the Fighting Game Community, by discussing the latest related news, such as tournaments, strategies & tips, game releases, and interviews with popular players.

So far, I've only been in contact with the community for 2D Games (Capcom fighters, Guilty Gear, etc). But I want to expand the show to include 3D fighters as well, which of course means, Virtua Fighter and Tekken.

A few days ago, I was contacted by Matt who works for TSNCentral.com. He wants to develop a new subsection of the site to promote the fighting game genre, and wants to use AlphaISM in this regard. So with that looming on the horizon, I was wondering if anyone from the VF community will be willing to come on the show for an interview. I, for one, don't play Virtua Fighter, and I think it would be good for both myself and the audience to know why Virtua Fighter is so popular. I also think that with anything, there are always stereotypes and myths to expose.

So I'm asking who would be interested in something like this. If so, let me know. If not, thanks for your time.

Where are you located at, I live in Utah so I doubt that I could make it to a thing like that, but if you live in California, Ohio, or the New York area there are some great player's out there, who would love to promote V.F.

I live a little south of Seattle, WA. However, a physical appearance is not required to participate on the radio, but rather it can be done via Phone or Skype. Here's the details of the radio station: http://forum.streetfighteralpha.net/index.php?topic=63.0

Hi Ben, welcome to the boards. I'm sure you'll find someone more than qualified enough to answer any questions you might have and provide you with many insights into the community, past and present, all over the world. If I recall correctly there were a few people here that went to E3, which of course means that they're involved in Public Relations in one way or the other.

Just as a word of caution however, things move rather slowly on this board. Don't expect a quick response on this, but I believe it's certainly worth your while to wait, especially if you want to have a good discussion with a knowledgable person.

Believe me, there's nothing the community wants more than to promote the game and get more people into it. I'm sure you'll find all you were looking for and more on this site!

I'm going to step up here, and offer my time on your show. I've been in the game since day one, and am very much good buddies with almost anyone on this board, and know a lot about the game.

My votes however go for Myke or Srider. These men provide countless contributions to our scene, and are very active in getting news to the rest of us.

Either of these two would be the ideal "face" of VFDC, otherwise if you're just looking for the community joe I'm willingly to be the man for the job.

Edit: almost forgot one more nomination for DRE. He has a great demeanor about the game and open community. Plus his dedication is inspiring.

I vote myke, or myself /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif -- shang and shou would also be good options.

IMO, nobody suits better for the interview than Myke. In fact, a 3 way interview with a MC, Jerky and Myke would be great.

Plus Myke has that sexy Australian accent. It's win - win for every one.

LOL, you guys.

Anyway, I've already PM'd Bunkei saying that I'd be happy to do the interview provided my timezone differences (and accent, heh) are something he can accomodate. Otherwise, I'm happy for someone else to do it, and I can think of a handful of people who would do a good job of representing the community well.

Sydney is GMT +10
PST is GMT -8

Is the interview live, or can it be pre-recorded?

Interviews are live, but it can be pre-recorded. You're 18 hours ahead of me, so that means that 6-10 pm PST (the hours the radio is usually on) should be about noon - 4 pm your time.

Does that work?

4pm is no good due to work, unless it was a Saturday (Sunday afternoons I play football).

If it's a weekday then I'd prefer it to be around 6pm - 7pm my time, which is like midnight+ for you?

Let's spare everyone and discuss the details over PM.

Damn. That thing's an hour long (seriously). Thanks for taking the time, Rodney.

Edit: I took time to listen to the whole thing. I highly recommend it.

Great interview with Rodney.

The interviewer also mentioned that Alex Valle is planning on getting hardcore into VF5. I hope this game actually catches on.
