today at Ikebukero I went to the arcade place called Gigo. and there Sega had a showing of VF4 Evolution. and man does this game rule. so here is the lowdown!
please keep in mind that everything I type if out of my memory so I can make so mistakes.

there were 4 cabinets for 2 player. and 1 extra cabinet for 1 player game. the 1 player game cost 200 yen.
and the 2 player cabinets costed 100 yen.

    Lion stage

this stage is now more brightly, you can really see the castles around much better, also it is snowing.

    LEi Fei stage,

oh my god, does this stage looks good now. only the green red wooden border I did not like so much. but most of this stage is brighten up more. also the sunflare looks really nice.

    Pai stage

the surroundings of this stage is now more open, it looks like some kind of construction yard area with the same water around it as usuel.

    Sarah stage

stage looks more brighten, like it is early morning. you can see very well now how the city looks now on the background.

    Jeffry stage

looks darker now, like 10 pm. for the rest it most the same.

    Wolf stage

oh men I love this stage now even more, you can see the people better. also the colors in this stage are more brighten.

    Akira stage.

1 word awesome! the doors are open and on the background you can see all sort of trees . it really looks very nice. also the fire of the candles are out.

    dural stage,

looks the same as always. I could not spot any difference.

    Kage stage.

it is now darker, around 7 pm. still looks very sharp. for the rest looked the same.

    Lau stage

it is raining now. for the rest I did not spot much difference.

abouyt new moves. with Akira I saw a new punch move. let me explain. this is a straight punch that directly went from shoulder to the lower section of the body opponent. it is great to confuse your opponent. because normally if you press punch punch, you will get one high punch and then a lower punch, but this new punch directly goes to the mid section. I think ganjinpunch also mentioned this.
overall it seems that Akira is powered down a little bit, but also is a little bit faster.

about Lei Fei. one move I remember was some kind of low sweep punch that I never saw in the orginal VF4.

    about the 2 new fighters.

    goh hinokami

This fighter rocks. if you see him move. it looks so nice. I played him a couple of times and I think he will be very usefull for WOlf, Jeffrey , Akira players, who want to try an other character. some of his awesome throw moves are an awesome quilotine choke ( if you want to know what a quilotine choke is then watch the UFC fight between Murillo Bustamante and matt Linland. the move Murillo use to finsih Matt is the same kind of choke I mentioned. really great to see it is adepted in this game! )
an other great throw was a juijitsu throw. it looks like a shoulder throw, but first you bend the arm over your shoulder and then throw the fighter. in real life. you will brake you arm for sure!
there was also a standard shoulder judo throw. which looked ok but nothing special.
about his walking. he moves the same as Akira, I think the crouching dashing stuff will be very usefull for him.

    about brad burns

I did not play him, but what I saw of him. he is a charachter which I think most people use who like Sarah, Kage, JackyI say this because his movement was like one of these characters.

oh yeah. you could also buy the new VF cards here. on the card itself you see all the fighters.

also in Ikebukero there were some famous players I think. one of them was C-Chaps. he had a very good Akira as well as an awesome Lei Fei. I forgot his rankings, but for sure it was above vanquiser. he had something like 4000+ matches fought and had a win ratio of 82 percent. also his akira was something like that. the only thing I had difficulty with is if he was a guy or a girl, still his abilities were awesome! very fast on the buttons.

overall I think I have covered everything I saw today of VF Evolution. and yes I am a lucky bitch to play and saw this game in action. woohaaaa this was one hell of great day!!!!!!

    LOL!!!

That guy/girl was probably Kyasao. I saw him on the Stat Rev DVD and my friend and I wasn't sure either. /versus/images/icons/blush.gif

ehm now you mentioned that. you are maybe right, haha. oops my mistake. he also was busy playing VF EVO and almost ranked his Lei Fei to little monarch rank, but he lost the ranking match from an other Lei fei player. what struck me the most about Kyasao was that he seemed not bother at all playing the game. it was more something like he had too. and did not much care about losing or winning. also why does he still have to pay to play??? Sega give this guy some cash and let him play for free /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

also there was a fat guy and he had also a high ranking he played with Kage and I did not saw him lose 1 time!

You mean ranked his EVO character to monarch? Not possible in one day, and only 4 or so machines.

yes there were only 4 machines, but I swear that he had a 10 th dan or a 7 th dan, sometimes I make a mistake between them, but he had. I also saw that he bought a new card, still he already was 10 th degree. also the winner stays and the losers goes away and goes back into line. because there where lines waiting, although no big lines, after 5 minutes you could play. also there was somebody who had already a 8 th degree doh ( judo player ). how this is all possible I do not know, maybe it is because on the VF4 evo arcades some high skilled players start already at a certain degree and do not have to start all over again as once was thought.

No, everyone starts at 10-kyu, and I promise, you did not see a 10-dan player. The cards this time are totally different from last time. I had to throw away m ycards from the last beta test, as they're unusable ($20 or so total). The highest anyone got in a week for the last beta test was 2-dan. No way anyone got 10-dan in the first day.

maybe he mistook a kyu for a dan~

Most rikery -- the characters are relatively similar, unless you know exactly what you're looking for.

I guess the best way to tell, is that a minimum requirement would be 50 wins for shodan to 10-dan, and then probably 50 more for 10-kyu to 1-kyu, considering there aren't a lot of high ranked players, there's not a lot of points to be had.

I've known how to read chinese all my life..n yet sometimes...reading kanji on the screen..my eyes go X_X....too small at times. Nightmare for me when I try to write my names in Kanji on the PS2 data file.

So I'm not at all surprised he misread kyu for dan.

and Like u said..a few strokes makes all the difference aye /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

ehm maybe you all guys are right, I did not paid attention if it was dan or kyu, my big mistake, damn!
maybe because of the high level players out there, I took it for granted, but I think you are right, maybe it was going from 10 th kyu to 1 st dan, then it would make sence.

I used to could write Kanji like a madman, but since even English computer systems can handle the characters and compute for you, I really can't write shit anymore. It was my girlfriends b-day yesterday and I had to write the card in English. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Also to note, I'm ripping the Bay Area Cup Vol. 2 video, and some of the names are impossible to read, due to the resolution of the tape. /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

Rather than piss the mods off w/ more threads, I figured i'd post about the single player mode.

As Evo can be played in a whopping three places in the world, as opposed to just one before, I got to try out the single player mode today, as the line was fractionally smaller.

I used Lei Fei, w/ an access card. I was able to go through the whole game, although the stages are now mixed up (like VF2) and you get a mission thrown in the game. I only got two -- one of which I passed.

The first mission, was "hit your enemy more times than he hits you!". Amazing concept, no? Well, it's true. But, that means punch for punch. So I was using Lei Fei (lots of power per hit) and was fighting Shun (many little hits) -- so he had the edge. I wound up winning, as I got two more hits in than he did. Not sure of the prize.

The other mission was on the Dural stage, and I failed. It said, "Jump 6 times". Not, that [8][K] and such don't count as a jump. I didn't even get one in. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif
