Also, tony, some tips vs shun please: i noticed Brad's f,f+k and b,f+k whiffed against shun's low kick - what would you recommend using instead?

 

erdraug, thanks for letting me know about the tech difficulties. Both vids start to replay from the beginning during the second round. Don't know why that happened. I will upload them again.

About Shun: 66K didn't whiff, Shun evaded it. I didn't see 46K whiff at all

 

Tony was that F,B K that you used on the shun in the first vid? how did you get the spacing for that to come out? that move has always felt to slow to whip it out

Hey GetSelious (nice name), just read this. About B,F K (46K), I suggest that you try Quest or Dojo (with the cpu on level 5 and all of it's reaction details on random) and get a feel of when to use it and when to not. I rarely ever use it since 66K is faster and less risky but 46K yields a bit more damage and has more active frames so here's two scenarios where I will risk using it:

1)To crush rising attacks. 46K has more active frames than most moves so that makes it a perfect move to beat out a rising attack. P+K is faster and safer but depending on the rising attack that your opponent does, sometimes P+K won't do the trick where 46K will.

2)During spacing games or footsies (as it's called in SF terms). An opponent dashes in or attacks/evades at the wrong time just a little too close to Brad and BAM! 3PP -> 46K+G time. After that combo sometimes opponents don't techroll so you can tack on a light down attack too.

If you watch that vid you can see all my crutches! When i haven't played in a while my offense drops down to a lot of the barebones of lei's easy damage! I will say it's kinda sick the way that you are using moves that will track lei's evade attacks. How many times did you hit me with the wall kick/Knee that day?? I know one game you got me with it like3-5 times!!!! Wish you'd taped that one.

 

Nice vid vs Weiand. I have to say, i'd really like to see him tighten up his movement/2p/defense up just a little bit more-->because of all the Jeff's out there, i absolutely love his game. He could roll into the game using in fake name he wanted and i would know it was him, because his style is just so unique. Love his move selection and utility/efficiency. I'd like to see him take it up a notch, and every time i play him he feels so close to being on that next level!

^Not really. I see that move whiff all the time... not sure why though.

@Social Ruin, thanks man. I noticed that we have similar styles. Offensive machines with average defense. I wouldn't call it a crutch to steer the fight towards your strengths while avoiding your weaknesses. That's what all good fighters do... but great fighters work on their weaknesses which I think we do... once in a while

I remember when there was a Lei-Fei clan. Really good Lei-Fei players who didn't rely on "crutches" just good instincts and yomi. I think Konjou and Numbers are the only ones left from the clan who still play online.
I hope you come back to VF cuz there's a lot of new stuff that I want to show/discuss with you about defense.
I miss playing you and your brother, you guys were not "Panic fighters". Juno, those guys that have a one or two "panic buttons" such as 2P spam and DMP+K.
They will do things such as sit there and 2P repeatedly without even properly hitchecking just to throw off your offensive onslaught. I find it funny cuz even when they get a counter hit 2P (+7) they waste their advantage doing yet another 2P

I think that's the kind of player The Weiand doesn't want to be. The thing is he needs to learn how to use all of his tools including 2P and DMP+K in order to go to the next level. They are like any other tools in our arsenal, overuse or become predictable with it and you can get smashed by the top level players. I can see why he hates 2P so much though, shit I still don't punish 2P on block correctly online =/
Once he levels up he will see that all that "tournament style" nonsense he talks about is silly.

Just figure out how to beat your opponent regardless of how annoying their tactics are.
Hell, do the same shit back to them and see how quickly they run away like little bitches
