    Holy

That was pretty much the sentiment at Ariake tonight, where almost all of the favourites were taken down by not just one team, but one player! For all of you Kage players out there, do your best to get some video because you will not want to miss what happened tonite.

Tougeki, where VF is a 3-on-3 event, was dominated by one single Kage. As part of the team Daibutsu Punk (along with Inochi (AK) and Chemure (WO)), Jin beat, three series in a row, the entire side without losing a single match.

And who were those three teams?

In the quarter-finals, Virtua Fusion. A small team composed of Oh-nuki (AO), Ohsu Akira (AK), and Chibita (LI).

In the semis, a couple of nobodys named Mukki Akira (AK), Punch the Senpu (LA), and Itoshun (BR).

And in the finals, total losers Yoro Kage (KA), Hakushon Maou (LA), and Minami Akira (AK).

He went first for his team in each series, and yes, including over 8 excellents, mutilated the entire side. Yes, his teammates did not even have to lift a finger. Jin was pure electric.

Hopefully media will be available soon, well before the DVD is out.

Wow. That just goes to show you that anything named Jin is broken. Well except of course MvC2 Jin, but then again, that whole game is broke. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    Videos anyone?

Wow, thanks for the report mukatsuku_shun! Can't wait to see the footage when it becomes available!

I wonder if the past few days/week of FT play had put the favourites off their Evo game?

It actually had very little to do with the character being "broken." Jin is a very talented player with tons of experience against the top competition. For instance, Ohnuki was tearing up the competition using Aoi's [4][P][K][G] to dodge, getting out of the way of almost all attacks and breaking all throws (it is registered as a side-throw, so you just have to know whether to input up or down). To this Jin used Kage's ground roll-->kick. It tracks, and he put on just enough delay to hit when Aoi was open (its a very small window). He also landed several of Kage's jumonji kick blocks, where he gets huge damage. The Minami match might have been the most impressive, as he read the hell out of Minami's movements. He excellented Minami in round three.

I was at several qualifiers where Daibutsu Punk lost matches, including one in Chiba where my team beat them ( /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif ). They barely even qualified for Tougeki, not winning a qualifier till the third-to-last tourney. Jin is a very underrated player who never has a really high ranking or wins too many tournaments, but is very knowledgeable and always calm as fuck. It is not as though any one player is invincible, but he looked damn near untouchable tonite.

I dont think anyone was really overplaying FT at all, at least enough to have an impact on their Evo performance. Jin is actually playing Goh in FT right now. Most people were just choosing characters who they thought would be the most changed from Evo (i.e. Jeffrey, Goh, Brad and other "weak" characters).

Jin was in KSII I think. Beated a Pai player (he used the 100 point Jumanji K reversal counter on that Pai player if I remember correctly) first round but lost to Ohsu in the second round.

/versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Wow, quite the interesting results. Good to know there are other guys out there, but I still have much love for the Aoi players
