Tournament in Charleston, SC. March 1st

There will be a very big Eastcoast tournament for the following games on March 1st in Charleston, South Carolina. The games are:
Tekken 4, Tekken Tag, <font color="white"> Virtua Fighter 4 </font color> , Marvel vs Capcom 2, Capcom vs SNK 2, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, and Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike.

My friend KrayzeeJL is responsible for the VF4 section. (Check him out in the TN media thread) We need at least 8 people in order for the tourney to take place. Detail about the location has not been decided, and there will be an entry fee of $10 per tourney and cash prizes. Further details can be seen here.

One of the interesting things that my friend told me is that some of the participants for tekken from Texas are asking about VF4 tourney. That is why they decided to include it in the tournament, plus the push from my friend KrayzeeJL. So I hope alot of us show up and give them a good show.

hey whats up! I really want to help out the VF scene in the US so hopefully this will help get the crowd connected on the east coast!!! I really hope we can get the 8 people needed to hold this event!
I will post more information as it is relayed to me regarding the venue, specific pricing information and such...
also there is supposed to be a DJ spinning music while everyone plays also... but I'll reply back with more info on that also...

 

We need to keep the VF scene alive in the Mid-Atlantic! Everyone who plays VF in the area should try to make it here!!

 

Team Hydra is thinking about going. But I need more info before I send my guys up there. Where is it located. I need specifics, cause I think we are driving there. Let me know.

 

Whats up FL crew... I spoke w/ the tourney coordinator and he's getting a location as we speak.... I'll post ASAP about location / time / other info... TZ post also has info regarding other games being played also...

We would love to be there. South carolina is not too far from florida. We will see. What do you think the numbers will be like. Is the pot going to be big.

I'm really hoping that the VA crew get word of this gathering and decide to come also... if they see the competition to be worth the drive...

The entry fee is going to be $10.00 per tourney so if we can get a full 16 player tournament, winnings would end up being something like this:

1st - $112.00
2nd - $32.00
3rd - $16.00

The other games are also available to add to the earning potential at this tourament (if you're good at other games T4/TTT/MvC2/CvS2/3S). I know they will all mostly likely be full (especially the Capcom games).

 

If team hydra comes, will there be regional seatings? So that way, we don't play each other in the first round.

 

We'll definitely arrange it so you wont have to play each other in the first rounds... that goes for Team Hydra and any other team that plans on attending...

 

OK here's the breakdown on how the tournament will be...

-Double Elimination

-All matches will be 3 rounds

-Time limit of 45 seconds

-Stage selection will be set to random

-Preliminary Matches will be best out of 3

-Semi-Finals will be best out of 5

-Finals will be best out of 7

-Character choice will be along the lines of arcade mode: Winner sticks with the same character, while loser can choose a different character (this only applies within the bracket, once somebody wins the bracket and moves on you are free to change characters) **IMPORTANT** remember to bring your memory cards and create new Data Files to keep track of your stats at the tourney!!! We will also be recording the replay files to upload to the internet after the tourney

-$10.00 tournament entry fee

- Winners Recieve:
1st - 70%
2nd - 20%
3rd - 10%

Location : still TBD but is DEFINITELY in Charleston, SC (rumored location - College of Charleston rec. center) should have definite location by this weekend

-Regional Seatings - as mentioned earlier, regional / team players will not be required to play each other in the first round

***We would really like to do a TEAM TOURNAMENT, but it will depend on the number of participants involved with this tournament, it will keep all of the requirements of the tourney but regional seatings wont be an issue, the team name will appear on the bracket page and the Team's themselves will determine the order of players***



I'm sure we're all going to have a great time this coming March! I feel that the VF4 scene in NA is coming alive like never before! I'm extremely excited about getting to play against such great players and I hope to learn a lot!

 

Yes, Charleston is only around 6hrs from us. /versus/images/icons/cool.gif Hydra should definitely try to make this. OK, so March 1st is a Saturday. Blondie, Jedi, stomp and myself will start planning now to attend. Also, Cappo may be in FL at that time and would go with us, and GhostDog is right on the way so we could pick him up. If this trip is less than two days, I can make it. Just make sure you guys let me know the info and when you are leaving and such.

Stomp, depending upon when the tournament starts I'm thinkig we could drive up the night before and then leave after the tournament. Or, even go up early the day of the tournament and leave late afterwards. Does anyone know when the VF4 tournament is planned to start yet?

Stoopid: We'd be taking I-95 through Jacksonville. Any chance you can make it over to that area to meet us?

I think it's the same distance between here and Jacksonville as it is to Orlando. I might just drive to Orlando and catch you guys from there.

 

OK I checked about the timing of the VF4 tournament and it should be later on in the afternoon / early evening...

there is going to be 8 games played during this tournament and I believe they're holding the T4 and VF4 touraments at the end as the "main event."

I'll post more detailed information regarding the time / location of this tournament when I receieve it

If its going to be held later on in the late afternoon / early evening it gives everybody the morning to make it there...
I was also thinking about getting everyone together and getting a cheap hotel room and throwing down all night long after the tourney and then everyone heads home the next morning...
I've got a few guys to chip in so far but if we can get a bunch the room will be dirt cheap! and it'll give everyone a chance to get in a few more rounds rather than just tournament play...

also... the numbers for the VF4 tournament are growing and a Team Tournament is looking better and better! hopefully if we get the numbers we will have some fun with that!
