Tournament Prizes?

What are some of the averages prizes that tournaments give out? (ie money or merchandise) both in the U.S. and in Asia.
Also does anyone know how much people like Chibita make for their play in and out of tournaments?

 

I can't speak for asia but in the USA it's low, like less than 100 dollars, maybe as much as 250 worth of goods (i.e. a PS2+game).

In asia it's gotta be something decent, as there are a lot of entrants, we're talking dozens and dozens.

I can't tell you how much chibita makes for tournaments, but surprisingly guys like chibita, kyasao, mukky, etc don't win every tournament (or as far as I know any tournament). Having single elim or even double elim means that the best overall player isn't necessarily going to win on one specific day. But! I know at least one of them gets something like 2000 dollars a month as a "VF allowance" to participate in 100 man events (where one guy takes on 100 consecutive challengers, win or lose) .. he may have other duties as well but it boils down to playing VF. He probably gets paid for consulting in the making of the home versions and beta testing the arcade versions.

 

I belive in japan atleast its illegal or frowned upon to give out cash prizes for tournaments. entry fee's are like 75 cents. Atleast in the capcom circles.
