I'm a beginner and have difficulty with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif(guard or hit)/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. What does 'guard or hit' mean? And how fast should I input /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif after Single Palm? Any expert can help me? Thank you.

That move is talked about in this thread. Also, on guard or hit means that the elbow can only come out if the palm hits or is guarded. If your opponent evades the palm or you do it from too far away and it whiffs, the elbow will not execute.

And a general tip, a lot of people try to input it too fast, especially in actual matches. Just be patient and slow down your inputs, might help.

In theory you should input second /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif on precise moment that single palm touches opponent. I do it nearly completely with timing though and dont watch opponent or the hit at all.

I find it useful to look at Akira's feet. Try to time yourself with that. Other than that it's jut practice, practice, practice.

I didn't even know there were any visual cues for this one. I think this is a move you can watch the CPU do? LISTEN to the timing of the two beeps. Then when you do the move your self, make some noise for timing in your head when you hit p both times. Every move in VF that is difficult has some rhythm. To me, that move has a rhythm ingrained in it. So every time I even think about the move, the two "on-beat notes" play in my head. I think what happens is that when you do this, your finger will get the rhythm down also, and that is how you build the muscle memory. Use the "notes" to time your pressing.

The problem to me (I might be wrong) is that the delay with which press the second P varied according to Akira's distance from the opponent. Or maybe not. I guess the execution time is always 16 frames. I felt that pressing in the moment he completes that sort of "step" was the way to go for me.

It's a move worth practicing because it WILL win rounds for you. Good range, ducks under some stuff, very good damage (especially if the SP is major counter), good against the wall, moves the opponent far so also good for ring out, only -6 if blocked.

Sure as hell they'll wreck it in the next installment, but until then, enjoy...

IIRC input the second /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif 16-17 frames after the first /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

I've heard some people cue on when Akira's hand stretches out for the singlepalm then input the elbow.

Personally, I learned using sound...so easy my avatar can do it.

If you input a crouch dash first, the timing is the same every time. The timing varies if you try to punish certain stuff, because of the window that you are still in recovery frames from the blocked move. Also, damage varies according to distance. If you crouch dash first, you will be able to get the maximum damage if you are close enough to begin with. From my testing, just doing it from crouching will never yield maximum damage. Although, it depends if you think you have enough time to waste those frames.

I learned, like with most just-frames, via finding the tap-rhythm. Once you find it, your hand can do it correctly without even needing to play the game. Just tap on a desk, on someone sleeping, whatever, that's practice enough once you know the timing.

Just mess around and you'll find it and then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif will become an easy to perform staple in your Akira play.
