    Hi all,

I'm trying to break my bad habits and develop good habits. Mainly, I've been focusing on:

    1) Getting used to always [G]~[P] so I always have a throw escape primed while blocking
    2) Learning the proper defensive response for my attacks when blocked. For example, when I can [3][3][G] afterwards (I think it's anything [-1 to -5]) and so forth
    3) Hit confirming and trying to build up frame advantage to then go for bigger attacks

One thing I've noticed is that 2 and 3 never ever seem to work for me online.

Regarding 2) I generally practice doing the [3][3][G] in the dojo for like 10 minutes before going online everyday and yet it never seems to work in a match. For example, after my [K]+[G] is blocked, I'm at -1, which should be a pretty easy to [3][3][G] afterwards but without fail I'll get hit with either a mid or throw. It may be that my inputs are bad, but when I check the replays, it looks like I'm doing everything right.

Regarding 3) I'm usually simply trying to do [P] --> [6][P] when the opponent blocks and 100% of the time online it never beats [2][P]. Thankfully with Sarah, I have other options to beat [2][P] but I'm concerned when I can't use something that is considered a core part of the game. Many times, after a match, I'll watch the replay and my sense about the frame data is correct (I have advantage and my attack should have won) but yet still the other person wins out.

Am I literally too slow for this game, does online lag make something like this not work, or is there something else that that I don't know about?

    Thanks!

It maybe simply cause it is online.

    (P) 6P hit at 12th frame, so it clash with 2P. Even 1 frame delay may cause you miss it. Missing 1 frame while online is damn easy vs mashers.

Try it in live matches with your friends and you will know for sure.

Online and offline, you can P into 6P (or, with Akira, 66P/666P) without hit/block confirming your P. This is especially good online as you need to use all the frames for P -> Elbow to work.

Just mashing it is not the best idea, though. Plan ahead by watching what happens after you use just P (and they block, get hit, or duck). Chances are they'll do the same thing again so follow P with attack or throw accordingly.

Lag could be one thing, but one thing I like to do after [P], is press [G]. Going from [P] -> [6][P] will get you beat if they are mashing. It should go like this [P][G] -> [6][P] good for poking.

    [P][G] -> [6][P] will beat out the opponent's [6][P] and [2][P] .

The following [6][P] will lose, if they throw out [P] because of the 2 frame difference. In that case, after [P][G] , use [P] or [2][P]

Check out the Buffer Thread in the Dojo since that IS THE MOST OVERLOOKED part of the game, when playing and teaching.

yes yes yes to holding p after blocking. its something i am so bad at and i know i really need to get better even a lil bit better at it will save me a lot of damage and set ups.

one thing i will add to bad habits is over thinking. that is not to say that you should not be smart and change the way you fight to best your opponent, however i feel a lot of us new players over think a set up.

how can i get this move off.
    how do i block that.
i feel better and better play comes from it becoming instinct. that only comes from playing and learning and losing yourself to the round, to the match.

over think when watching a reply =0

Doesnt clash though, since the move that does more damage will win. That means the elbow will win.
