Friends, Romans and Countryman lend me your ear?

After coming off of two weeks of SC5 and being pretty impressed with the changes to the arcade mode, the addition of quick battle and the massive improvement of online play. I was a little worried about UFC 3. Would it be all hype? Would they fix what wasn't broken? Did I just waste 59.99 + 19.99?

I hate to seem over emotional about UFC 3, but this game F'N ROCKS!!!! I've played a lot of fighting games in time, but in all honesty, this is the most feature packed , mode loaded fighting game that I've ever seen!

From tracking detailed stats on every kind of kick, throw, and submission your fighters will ever do, to recording full replays of complete fights with your ability to edit and make your highlight reels, to tournament modes, Title fight modes, King of the Hill mode, PPV mode, Ultimate Fight modes, Post fight graphical analysis of damage done to each fighter, the most detailed customization and career mode I can think of. Training Sessions, Camp Session, Online mode, lobby, Tutorial, customizable move lists, decide whether game plays in simulation mode, arcade mode, a mix of both, Pride mode, OMG!!!!!!

Hell, the card girls alone..... whoopeeee!

    Animations 10 out 10
    Audience 10 out 10
Referees, Corner men 10 out 10
Pre fight walk ins 10 out 10
post game announcing 10 out 10
    announcing 10 out 10
card girls 9 out 10 (if only we could customize!)
    Sound effects 8 out 10
fluidness of motion 10 out 10
    simulation 9 out 10
    game modes 11 out 10
Strategy Guide 7 out 10 ( SC5's Strategy guide sets the bar)
    Replay value 11 out 10

The fighting mechanics IMO are everything you could ask for, because you are in total control of how accessible, or advanced controls and game play are. The submissions system has a noob mode and a advanced mode. The striking is diverse, Some of it has been Mocap so its true to the original fighter. The ground game is stronger than its ever been, you can win the fight from bottom position now, or top position, Grapplin is a thing of beauty, the knock outs, The slow motion finishes! OM FN G Boys and Girlz this is one of the most power packed fighting games that has ever been made (RLY!)

Of course there are going to be some criticisms, no game ever made is absolutely perfect. Bot damnit if you don't get 100 times your money worth out of this fighter, use should just pick up another genre of game. UFC3 is amazing by all counts. There is so much to do in all three markets. Single player folks you will be thrilled, VS player folks you'll be ecstatic (although I'm not sure at this point what they do about 2nd player profile) I've been through a little single player and a little online, haven't played yet with player2 but I see so many modes for 2 player (Tournament, Event, Pride, Exhibition, etc) that VS mode is a winner, Online they THQ are still turning on the features, In the long run online will be a beast!

I was having quite a bit of fun with SC5, but I'm going to have to shelf it for now.

I think Soul Calibur 5 raised the bar for many fighting games in terms of some of the online features and the License innovation. And Soul Link. Very Nice.

But..... UFC 3 IMO raises the bar for all 3d fighting games in terms of features and functionality. This game has got to be the gold standard in terms of modes, and features for a fighting game. If anyone (after really checking out UFC3) knows of another fighting game that offers more bang for the buck than UFC 3, let me know RLY!

All I can say is that I hope Sega bringz it later this year with VF5FS. VF has been my gold standard so far, UFC 3 has the advantage now because its in its 3rd iteration in about 4 years. And my VF5 is ancient. So to be fair, I have to wait until VF5FS comes out to see which game will actually satisfy my insatiable thirst for video game fighting the most. Of course they are different kinds of Fighters, But I will be measuring them on my fighting satisfaction not directly against each other.

VF5FS I hope you bring it, because UFC 3undisputed, and the sheer size of the community can cause a person to get lost and not come up for air for many moons.

So not only is the game play extraordinarily DEEP!, Now the game itself with so many modes is extraordinarily big, So now we have Big and Deep
Excellent Job! THQ, IMO the wait wus well worth it. UFC 3 could be the fighter that quenches my insatiable appetite for video game fighting.

VFDC is going to enjoy the relative silence coming from me, because I'm gonna be in the Octagon yall !, A little kimura, a little rear naked chock, a little muay thai knee to the head, a little ground and pound, a little surflex, a little omoplata, a little flying armbar, a little heel lock, tapout, tapout tapout... a little dirty boxing, a little cage draggin... a little Lyoto Machida Karate, a little Bones Jones mixem ups, A little spider Sylva....... A little straight karate kick to the face ....

I like the changes to the gaming system, but I still liked EA MMA's general flow more. The standup was more conducive to light striking, angles, and combinations, and the ground game was less spazzy. In UFC it's still somewhat viable to spam power shots as long as you get a string of them going. Jabs don't interrupt well enough, I feel.
