Updated the site look slightly. What do you think?

Let me know if anything's broken.

The vf3 section is still there, just not available in the sidebar menu. I'll get that fixed eventually.

Sorry to say I'm not a fan of it (thought old one looked better). The top forum picture is ok I guess; feels a little simplistic with just the sky though (like PS abuse), but the frontpage looks chunky and not like things go seamlessly into eachother. Maybe black as a backgroundcolor should be changed now if this "light" theme is to be on the frontpage? Any reason you decided to put the calendar like that btw (future plans)? Looks abit weird.

Edit: Just realized the calendar is to click for upcoming events :p

    WHAT THE FUCK

Jesus, what the heck is this? VFDC got redesigned, this time by a color-blind, 10 year old kid! It looks horrid. HORRID. The old layout wasn't too hot, but this is REALLY bad.

The choice of colors - crap! Gold + navy + red? Did someone vomit here? The main upper menu and character column on the index page look like shit - bad font choice, plus italics... bad... the character pics don't help shit. The site is now a bunch of loosely placed tables.

The only part that looks OK is the forum, if overlook that fucked up 'home, versus city, media..." menu.

Note: And some of the sub pages are broken in Opera - eg. tables are on different levels.

i like it! the character selecto-dealie on the left is cool, and the calendar on the right is also very fancy.

The sky background on the main page is a little distracting, but could be fixed if you add the VF1 stage midi /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I think it's nice looking. I kinda got tired of seeing Dural.

EDIT: I changed the theme to infopop2 and now the clouds at the top no longer show up.

    Messa like da main page.

I thought the dural pick was awesome, but not a fan of the sky deal. *shruggies* How bouts a collage of all the charactrers for the banner!

Hey Myke, looks great! I'm in favor of a light-colored or white background. May be worth a try, though I don't know if it meshes well with the forum blue. Might be too much of a contrast.

Anyway, broken linke on "My Home?" It keeps directing me to log-in.

I originally toyed with the idea of a lighter theme (white bg, etc) but it involved too much work /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif and a (subconscious) part of me doesn't relate VF with bright lights considering it's an activity that mainly takes place late in the evening /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Anyway, I'm away on business at the moment, but when I return I may look into it further.

Here's another bg image I toyed with but opted against in the end:

Again, it's going with the darker theme.

The link should still work the same. I suspect you're having either cookie or caching issues. Clear those out and try again if you already haven't.

There's also a sticky post in the Question and Feedback board to do with browser problems which may help you as well.

I think I like the darker theme better. It seems more consistent.

I think that picture in the background is a bit distracting..also, the menues now seem to be floating by themselves, kinda disjointed...I have to say this is not a positive upgrade overall..

You know, if there are any budding artists or site designers out there that might want to pass on some constructive ideas, I'd love to see/read them.

What's so distracting about the background? There's barely anything there. If anything, it should be less distracting than the closeup of dural's eyes we got used to seeing for 2 years. For my mind, the background is exactly that -- a background. As opposed to a foreground that's just shoved behind items of interest.

The floating tables being disjointed.. well.. yeah.. that was the idea!? I was going for the float look. Ideally, I wanted the background colours of the floating tables to be semi-transparent, to reveal more of the background, but there's just too much trouble to get that working right for all browsers.

I think the presentation of the News items on the home page looks more organised now. The red square anchors your eye to each story. I really hated the way the news was presented previously.

By and large, the colour scheme of the site hasn't changed at all. On the home page there are additional touches of red, but that shouldn't freak anyone out since red highlights are used in the forum anyway, as well as being the colour of the logo. Besides that, I've gone with a red/blue background for headings of the floating tables. The red/blue, of course, coming from the traditional 1P and 2P colours /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif Overall, I feel that the balance is there.

I'm not afraid of any criticism, as long as it's constructive in some way?

I'd say two things first if going constructive; if you want the red square - make it more lightred (like upper left of the vfdc logo) and don't use italics on links ever (like the table with the names of the chars in vf).

What's wrong with italics? I'll take a stab in the dark here and assume that it looks jaggy on your screen? If so, you should enable font smoothing in your OS (presuming you're using XP).

Telling me not to use something ever again isn't really constructive if you don't tell me why.

As for the lighter red, it might look too bright. I wanted it to match the darker red tone of the logo. But I'll play with it when I return to see what it actually looks like.

Constructive? Ok...well, I more or less liked the old way..either make the pictue now more seamless with the background...or just do away with it....it just sorta sits back there...and the colors are no where else on the page....as for floating windows....I guess you like them but not me...sorry if that is not costructive...but what do you want me to say...I love the windows, except how they are done now?
