What is the public opinion on one rank for all characters on a single profile? I think it sucks.

IMO, on my profile, every character should have their own rank and win loss ration to wager.

In ranked i use lei fei. If i could raise each character seperately thru online ranks and have separate w/l i would have AT LEAST a goh, akira, and shun. Most likely i would have a vane, wolf, and lau running around too.

Then when the match started it could include give the character specific info, and you would place that characters rank on the line as well as w/l. But it could also give total profile w/l, highest current rank, highest rank attained, etc. It could allow you to designate your main and subs as well. They could even give xtra titles to people who mastered many characters.

This would be an excellent way to re-energize rank!

If Sega were to give a shit about VF on console again I'd prefer if that effort was placed on getting R made

Edit: But it would be a good addition to an R port.

It's up to Microsoft not Sega, methinks. One gamertag, one profile for online = more money and all that.

EDIT: Also I think this belongs in the Xboxlive subforum /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

You'd be singing a much different tune if you were playing in Japan, and you have to face some extremely high level player's low dan ranked character because he wants an easy win to rank up. :p

This is another thing LA and I talked about for a little bit, because we both experienced it... some dude who's at a ridiculous level with one character starts with a new character, and starts owning up the lower ranks to rank up. Or even worse, if you play his best character with your main card, and then he loses on purpose so he can get wins off of you with his sub-card. :p

Good points reno. Still for xbl i think it would be ok. I mean, if mista tee joins me with ?brad? i may expect his brad to be decent even though it is low rank. Also, hypothetically, it could tell me mita tee's main is defender sarah with a sub vane 9th dan and a 3rd kyu brad...or something like that. Anyhow, i definitely see your point, and in a lot of way my next statement is hindsight but: at this point so few different quality players are available for most of us we would know the people we are playing and have a feel for their strength with subs (maybe).
Also, i'm imaging, (perhaps on the loading screen) a section where it basically lists all 17 characters and that profiles stats with each.

    Social Ruin
    Main: lei fei (master)
    Subs: Goh (1st dan)
    Win/loss: 3000/2000 60%

    Rank win/loss %
    akira:
    aoi:
    brad:
    etc.
    etc.
    etc.

So the info would really be all about your profile. But then each character has their own rank and win/loss. It would be a little harder to be blindsided by a skilled opponent. Hmmm. He has 2 raiders his so and so may be pretty good. Honestly, it seems like you'd be surprised by a skilled, low ranked player no more than u are now.
BTW the situation u described above does sound crappy. So i definitely admit it wouldn't be perfect. And i can also see where it would cause a lot more bickering too. Stupid stuff like, "if you were a man, you'd put ur 10th dan akira on the line". I would still like it better though.

What's wrong with making multiple profiles for each character (Is that an exclusive 360 feature?) or buying extra cards for the arcade? Personally, I like to keep my character data separate.

That's how it is in the arcade right now

But even if there would be high-level sharks roaming among kyus and dans with their new profiles, at least it would make the distribution of players more even.

Currently I think top players end up high rank, and casuals end up not proceeding much past low dans, and theres a gap between.

Im talking about VF online that is.
