Using OM on Oki

I noticed that if an opponent tries to wakeup with K you can OM to a side and make the K whiff and then punish them. However, the K is a half circular and you have to do it in a certain direction. Is there a way to tell which way to OM depending on the placement of the opponent's body on oki because I can't figure it out, and I always end up just guessing a direction if I go for it? I also noticed you can do it if they wakeup with 2K but the timing seems way more strict or just different and I can't do it consistently. Can someone explain to me how this works? I haven't seen this question asked in any other thread, but if it has been asked you can close this thread.

An example of what you're talking about can been seen at 2:56 in this clip:

I'm not using OM yet, because I haven't really seen a reason to use them except from what you're talking about here. Any suggestions (or link to a good post about it)?

Regarding uramawari: I'm an Akira player so most of the times if my opponent is laying sideways I jump over them then p+k them. Works if they K or 2K.

Depending on how your opponent is down, his attack when he wake up can be linear or half circular sometimes. So they are not always full circular.
More information here http://virtuafighter.com/threads/side-turned-on-knockdown.16283/ or on the wiki

But using OM to avoid the attack is something i never think before so i'm happy that you make this thread and that zai found a good example just after that !! Good jobs !!

Using the OM to avoid a half circular or linear rising attack was/is possible in Vanilla but not so in FS.

However, a properly timed regular evade can be used in this situation... only if you sidestep in the correction direction vs. the half circular rising attack and do not input any follow-up move/attack too soon afterward.
