The latest issue of Arcadia magazine has small section in the VF pages on the currently known bugs in Version C. Arcadia is primarily an arcade game magazine, so these bugs apply to the current build of Version C that's in Japanese arcades at the moment. I've confirmed that some of these work on the PS2 version too.

    Pai's Scissor Kick Bug
Some of you may have seen or know this one already. Pai does an ascending hop kick in place (u+K) and then suddenly warps approximately a full dash backward into the scissor kicks (uf+KK) whilst in mid-air. If you're backturned when you do it, you can warp behind the opponent and scissorkick them in the back of the head!

Command: u+K - uf+KKKKKKK (just hold uf and mash on K)

    Vanessa's Sleeper Hold Bug
When Vanessa has you in the Sleeper Hold (df+K+G (MC) f+P+G), the opponent can throw her! I actually had this happen last week when playing against my friend Atsushi. My Vanessa had his Kage in the Sleeper Hold, then as he was struggling I suddenly warped 10ft in the air and Kage did the Izuna Drop on me! I haven't been able to reproduce this myself in testing, but it requires some serious mashing.

Command: Enter throw command and mash on P+G during Sleeper Hold

    Jeffry's RO Bugs
If you manage a Ring Out with Jeffry's Lift Up Throw (b,df+P+K (hit) b+P+G) the opponent will remain frozen in mid-air! Note you have to cleanly throw them out, they can't hit the edge. I've had no luck with this on the PS2 version (hard to set up). Jeff's other RO Bug involves him doing the Running Hip Attack (run, F+K+G) to fly off the edge of a ring. He should be stuck in the Hip Attack animation on the ground. Do this one post KO. Again, I've had no luck with this on PS2.

    Backward CD cancels
Not really a bug par se, but the repeated backward CD cancels can be continued with (neutral+G, down) ! So you go db, db, G, db, (n+G, d) repeated. I tried to reproduce this on PS2 but had no luck. Maybe someone else can try.

    Lau's Hop Kick Bug
As you know, Lau has the canned Punch, Single Palm after a sidekick (df+K) and hopping sidekick ((desc) K). This involves a cross between the two and results in a sidekick-cancel (!!!) into the canned combo. You actually see Lau bend his leg at the knee for the sidekick, and then suddenly retracts it and goes into the canned combo.

Command: perform a hop by holding K and then holding P (uf+K(hold) -> P(hold)). So you should be holding both P and K for the duration of the hop. As soon as you land, let go of K (only) and then re-press K again immediately -- you should see the sidekick-cancel and Punch. To finish the combo, just release P at this point and press it again.

Edited to add Lau's Hop Kick bug

    Yep.

There's a nice open-stance Lion-only (talk about specific!) combo for Kage in the magazine which goes:

    df+P - db+P - f,d,df+PK (69pts)

this is some interesting stuff, (still can't make me laugh as much as jeff's power bomb glitch Vs sitting shun in VF2... hehe).

I'm pretty sure lau's hop-kick cancel was performed on one of the VF4 disc matches with 9La's lau.. i think he went into the elbow ~ single palm instead, but i know his side kick was canceled up until the knee which is what surprised me at the time. plz tell me if i am wrong?

Myke: Thanks for taking the time (or is it tyme /versus/images/icons/smile.gif) for sharing this with us. Very interesting. It also raises a philosophical question. When does a bug become a move? I.e., is it appropriate to use one in serious competition; does it belong on a move list /versus/images/icons/wink.gif ? /versus/images/icons/confused.gif

Something which is difficult to answer, especially if the bug is not necessarily an end-all killer weapon and/or if it takes skill or yomi to do; i.e. senbon KO/RO, reversal jams. The question is there for many other games, notably bunny hopping in FPS games.

None of these seem very useful or even worthwhile enough to put down in any general movelist. In a faq, sure.

Since I have time now, I can add some correction to what was posted. (I'm sure Sal would like to know this.)

For Vanessa's bug, you can do it with characters who have combo throws. Kage, Wolf, etc. (Not any throw, but only the second part of a throw will come out.) As you know, Vanessa can connect to sleeper hold after f+K or df+K+G only with a counter hit. For this bug, Vanessa has to hit the opponent, say Wolf, while he is doing HCB+P+G. i.e. a counter hit out of a combo throw. Then, Wolf has to input the command for the second throw, i.e. P+G in this case. Then, Wolf will grab Vanessa only with the lariat. I'm sure you can do this with Aoi, but a bit harder since the command for the second throw is not just P+G but P+G with directional inputs. So, what happened to Myke is that Vanessa hit Kage when he was doing TFT, and he did P+G afterward.

For Lau's hop kick cancellation, I think you don't have to press K again after releasing K.

For CD, first you do [1][2][1]->N+G-> [1][2]->N+G->[1][2]->N+G and so on. (N stands for neutral position.) And I don't think it can be done with (neutral+G, down) At least, this is what Arcadia was saying.

For Jeff, you do NOT have to throw the opponent out of the ring, but you have to push the opponent with [4][3]+P+K. After you push him out of the ring, you do [4]+P+G. This will lift the opponent up after ringout.
For Jeff2, after you win a round by ringout, you run toward the edge and when you fall off from the ring, do K+G (i.e. a running move which will keep you in the air.) I suppose you can do this with Wolf as well since he has [6]+P+K+G while running.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for that Hiro!

When I get some time I'll compile all of this into a document and put it under the VF4 section.

Here's another one to check out. Happened to me on the arcade today. I can't remember every single detail, but enough.

Aoi (me) vs. Lei Fei (a friend of mine) on Lei Fei's stage. The final rounded finished in the corner, w/ one of the walls busted. and Lei Fei lying on his stomach. The round is over, but I go in for the ground throw anyway. As I'm grabbing him, I warp over and fall out of the ring, Lei Fei starts 'sliding' across the floor, and is then levetating in mid-air in the lying down position.

Probably not super easy to replicate.

There was one bug I forgot to mention. It happened when I was playing ver C in Japan. I don't know how to reproduce it, so I will write the details I remember. I was playing against 10th dan Sarah (I was 8th dan) and was winning 5-6 times in a row. When it happened, it was 2-0. As I was eager to start the next round, I was smashing buttons and rotating the joystick. You know how the camera approaches you when a round is about to start, right? Then, the camera started to approach us rotating!! Al though I was on the second side, when the round started I was on the other side!! We were like, "What the hell...!?" I took the oppotunity and GSed him. Of course, when the game was over, he was so pissed...
I don't know what caused it, but it seemed that there is some way to do it. Just like the old bug in VF3 where you could change the distance between two at the beginning of a round.
