1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

It looks like VF 4 EVO had the best Dojo when I compare VF4, VF4 EVO, VF5 and VF5FS. For example the
    display settings has:

    • Command Information
    • Throw Escape Information
    • Motion Information
    • Guaranteed Throw Information
    • Evade Direction Information
    • Initialize Data Values

I wonder why AM2 didn't continue this with VF5 and VF5FS:confused: Anybody know?

The next version of VF Should just bring back dojo and training modes from VF4 EVO and add the missing stuff like Counter hit, side turned, etc from VF5FS. That's the thing about Virtua Fighter, its only real competition is itself. VF5FS's Dojo has to compete against VF4EVO's Dojo, VF4 EVO's Dojo has compete against the Advice and AI Training partner from VF4 and so on.

The interesting thing about all of the VF dojos is they never really made a big deal out of frames:ROTFL: although VF5FS does bring some of it, and VF4 EVO's motion information would allow you to deduce some aspects. Its amazing how much VF was actually played without pornographic level frame detail:ROTFL:

BTW Do the Arcade versions of VF in Japan have a dojo mode?

Interestingly enough, I actually never learned frame data stuff, to learn how to punish or retaliate against certain moves etc in vf. But from fighting against other people, playing against the cpu on easy and hard mode, and from using common sense. It was the same in my soul calibur dreamcast days, since that game and VF, are strangely to a certain extent, very similar.

The cool thing is, fighting the cpu on hard etc, sometimes reveals things even juggles, you were not aware of before. Like for example, when I was playing Lau, and I fought against cpu Lion, I did Lau's [P][P][P][2][+][K] combo, Lion blocked the first 2 punches, and right before my 3rd punch came out, Lion did [4][5][3][+][P], ducked under my 3rd punch attack and stunned me. When I did the combo again, Lion did it again. I was like Wooah!:holla:

It wasn't frame data, but experience from fighting the cpu, that taught me that tactic. I'll tell the Lion players and Jason Elbow on this forum, about this tactic, since it comes in handy, when fighting against Lau players.

Lion's [4][3][P] beats highs, and many similar high crush attacks can be used to beat out Jab/predictable strings. It's even written here.

What? They all have this unless you mean something different.

With the new throw system, I don't see the point, and if the 3-way guess were to carry over to VF6, that would still apply.

    What?

That's covered in the frames, if an attack is -10 or higher and you're in range you get a free throw attempt.

VF5FS does have this. Either when fighting against the AI or when playing a recording.

    What?

    Already addressed.

    Also addressed.

    ----

I'd say there should be even more stuff.

    • A way to plug in inputs in a way to remove any human error in recording sequences for both you and the dojo dummy.
    • Capturing footage from any aspect of the game with the ability to edit and post online
    • Slow-mo, pause, reverse, and other functions when playing replays
    • Similar to Tekken, but highlighting the character during their attacks and during block stun or on whiff
    • Combo practice, with updates being made from players and developers with annotations for new combos
    • etc

All of these tools together would be an awesome teaching tool, and a great way to find out evasive properties, sabaki windows, etc.

Your right that is a very high crush. Another one is [4][P].

This definitely wouldn't go amiss. A few 2000s-era SNK releases had it, although I remember it being a bit finicky to use. Still, great feature that I don't understand the absence of in current games.
