Old-skool ftw!

    Deep down you know it's true.

So start reading!

    Berserk?
    Blade of the Immortal moet duidelijk omhoog.

    ps.
    Heheh, Priest #34 top manwha...

    I'm taking a little break. Meanwhile I'm playing Bioshock, waiting for my preordered GTA4, and trying to get a nice stick . I was going for the VSHG, but the supplier isn't responding to my emails. Right now I'm trying http://www.gamenet.com.hk/ they have the Hori Real Arcade Pro SE, all Seimitsu and it looks awesome. But it's preorder so I'm waiting for their response about when they are expecting it. And even then, I still need a 360 PCB. So I guess I see you in 2 months... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

    It is, but once in a while Hori does re-issues, like they are doing with the HRAP 3 in July. But I don't want to wait that long.

    Thanks for your tip. The stick isn't that nice, but it has good buttons and a 360 board, so I just pmed laurie about shipping. I can change the art later /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    if you don't like the seimitsu stick i figure changing to a sanwa JLF will be a piece of cake, don't think it will even require soldering.

    No I mean I don't really like the art and the white plastic. The joystick is fine, and if I want to replace it, it actually will require soldering. The LS-55 is not connected with a harness like the JLF.

    Anyone interested in a USB adapter for SNES joysticks? I got 25 Super Smartjoys in today /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    We had a nice little meet this friday at Vortigar's place (I already forgot the name of the village, haha). It was me, Vortigar, Spoon and NGKrush, we had some nice casuals in, we didn't do a tournament (by the time I remembered we could do a little tourney, it was already like 9 o clock, I think. Either that or it was just before dinnertime).

    Had some nice games, didn't feel like I was 100% on top of my game, or paying 100% attention to what I was doing, but I had fun, so I didn't really care, haha.

    Vortigar: Finally had some casual games in with you again. I love Brad as a character and it's really interesting to play against him as well. I saw you do a lot more lows compared to the last couple of meetings, which I think really worked in your favor. Can't really say anything else about the way you play, since I don't know a whole lot about Brad and your game is just solid :).

    Thanks for hosting and thanks for dinner! I generally don't like pasta but the macaroni was really good! Thanks for driving us back n forth to Apeldoorn station as well!

    NGKrush: I think I only played your Kage. I just don't know enough about his basic stuff to really be able to play well against him. I know that all the silly stuff he has isn't really that good, but I always get irritated by stupid stuff like that. I just think it's kind of crappy that when you make games that go as deep as Virtua Fighter goes, it's stupid to let stupid stuff like lows that hit high but are still lows get into a game like that. ESPECIALLY when you've brought out a update for it.
    Maybe my thoughts will change when I learn a little more about him.

    Spoon: Only played you in the beginning, you seemed to be getting annoyed with yourself, or with the stick or something, which had a negative impact on your game. You were even saying something about not really liking the game anymore. I would be sad if you'd quit playing the game :(. Please try to find a way to play that makes you feel comfortable, that's all that's important in the end!

    hey guys, nice meeting! thanks for hosting vortigar (and spoon too! haha) and the food and the driving. had a cool time.

    @krye: lol, i did't play you with anyone else? not sarah or anything? i'm sorry about that, i was trying to mix it up a bit over the whole day as i wanted to test things for everyone.
    don't have much to add since we played last time, great progress overall though.

    @spoon:hey, nice games, i saw some great things: new moves added to your repetoire, throwescapes and some freaky cancelling where i wouldn't know what to do and get ch-ed or thrown everytime. I would recommend you put some time into trying to consistantly punish unsafe moves, sometimes you would punish and other times you totally wouldn't, i don't know if you just forgot, were trying different stuff or just haven't been focussing on it at all, haha. lol, well with the data now on wiki that won't be a hard thing, just focus on a few characters first (it's good to check out exactly how the moves look like in the dojo so you recognise them during fights, but you know that), i just think it would be better for your overall damage output if you did this consistantly in matches(also it'd be cool to see you really work in aois max damage (2kp,64p+kp) juggles in there). anyways, overal i enjoyed our matches as they where more varied in situations. too bad you lost concentration at the end, i would've liked to have played a few last games.

    @vortigar: we had some nice games vortigar, you said you hadn't really practised but it did seem you where a lot more stable on both offence and defence. i also saw some new(?) strings/flows or how you want to call them. you also seemed a lot more relaxed when playing, i was wondering if it ight have something to do with that we where playing at your place and you felt more comfortable. lol, well what i mean was that during play you took some extra time to overlook the situation, didn't go into attackflows all the time and that way you adapted a lot quicker and better. when goin into you offence try to get all hits to connect, a lot of the time you would start an offensive string out of range and through brads forward movement in the attacks get into the opponant, most of the time it was easy to block this or get a ch by interrupting. keeping everything connected gives you the knowledge of framedata and that's a string point for you i think.

    @pascal: hmm, nu gaat mijn interesse nog meer naar love hina toe, gevechten lijken me niets in het verhaal.

    @NGK:
    I did practice a bit before this meet. It was the last one that was the problem...

    And I did feel more comfortable, don't know why really. Maybe I felt I was just there for the game, not to prove something to anyone (or myself). Maybe it was because I had a few days off leading up to this one so I could relax before hand.

    I have a lot of problems getting through a 10f jab barrage, you've got some excellent reactions going on for that kind of work. You don't seem to be able to push that kind of game with Pai as well as with Sarah, but maybe that's just because of Sarah having a superb elbow and Pai not so much. I feel I ate way too many 6K's from Jeff, have I got a knee-magnet attached to my chin? Overall, great games.

    @Krye:
    Dang if we had any fight that didn't end in a close finish I can't remember it. I really had to stop myself from going for a LP everywhere, even with 9P's flaky hit detection you made me pay for a lot of them. And yeah, I went for 2K+G and 1P like an addict. Hitting BT P+K and you 6K+G-ing over a ducking P+K were highlights of the day for me.

    @Spoon:
    A load of K+G's gave me breathing room against you. As always you utilized your kicks and knees to prime effect. I'm wising up against Aoi, but it's still very iffy business getting past those reversals.

    If you feel the game is getting stale try something radically different like a character you absolutely hate or is too much of a hassle to play or cheesy (Akira? Lei Fei?), it may surprise you. It's how I turned from a Lion hater to devotee in a few weeks, I've been meaning to dig into Kage for a while now as well, though I still think the TFT is Cheese with whipped Stilton, Brie cream and a side order of Emmentaler on a Gouda terrace during market.

    And yeah, I love to say something is the best in the game in some way or other. Lion's 1K is the fastest knockdown full low, Brad's K+G is the fastest full circular, Sarah's 6P is the best elbow, Jeff's 4K is the fastest launcher for the damage it does, Kage's 3P is one of the best moves in the game for tracking, crushing highs, launching and being safe etc. etc. etc. :p

    @Vortigar:
    As NGK said, you need to tighten up your game at range, make sure moves will be in reach before attempting. Possibly try for the crumples more and see how that pans out. You still miss comboes when there's no reason to.
