As suggested by Slide I think it's best to start a new thread specifically for Q&A. Originally I wanted to surprise you all with who would be featured in each newsletter, but to avoid repeated questions I think it's best that you all decide what would you like to know about MarlyJay.

That's right bro... You are up next!

what keeps you motivated? is it because in London there are other good players (Jide, Rory)? would it be different if you had no offline comp? how important was the amsterdam meet for your VF development?

    Hmmm, Marly...

What first attracted you to VF?

Why did you stick with Eileen and did you try other characters first?

What do you think makes VF unique compared to other fighters?

Who in your opinion is the best VF player you ever played with on or offline? What VF characters do you like to fight against the most? What VF characters do you hate fighting against the most based on your experiences?

If you could change one thing about Virtua Fighter 5, what would it be?

Who is the strongest player you've ever fought and why?

Do you think the Virtua Fighter series has a future?

What are your favourite moves and why?

What are your favourite situations to be in? (personally I love ring out battles)

What gives you the most satisfaction in VF?

If in the future, FS did come to console (or at least a playable form in the West), would you stick with Eileen or choose a new character?

Are there any other fighting games that give you as much enjoyment as VF?

Do you still have any large screen TVs after the recent riots?

As a teacher you must encounter people with different styles of learning as well as a different level of being able to apply your teachings of the game. What attitude do you think is best to adopt when learning VF?

    Your own personal character tier-list?

Do you accept me as your superior?

Have your feelings towards SEGA changed since this announcement?

Are there any other characters you enjoy playing with aside from Eileen?

Any characters you hate playing against or just dislike in general?

Ok guys I'm done taking questions for Marly. I'm going to compile as many as I can and put them in the original post and use them as a reference.

Moving forward after this issue I will not be announcing who will be in future issues of the newsletter. I think surprising the community is the best way to go. Please continue to post general questions here that you would like answered whether it be by a seasoned vet or beginner.

A question that always used to be asked of Japanese players back in the good old days was the origin of their ring name. I find this amusing too, getting to know why somebody has that particular nickname, and if they made it themselves or if it was given to them.

What I liked with the interview with Blossy was the questions in regards to what he does besides playing VF. Call me a social whore, but I'm always interested in knowing more about each players personal life rather than their playing skill, lol. What I admire is seeing what people manage to do simultaneously while playing such a demanding game such as VF. VF players tend to have a specific type of mindset that differentiates itself from other fighting game players.

Anyhow, better log off now before any of you kick me to the curve, lol.

I think not knowing who is being interviewed is better for the newsletter. Our community is fairly small and if people have specific questions they really want to ask they can post them in a newsletter feedback topic or something after the newsletter is done. I am quite sure with our community this small, the person being interviewed could take a minute or two to respond back to questions.

I'm in favour of having it as a surprise as well.

I don't want to create more work for Rod, but I think an important factor in having a successful interview is how much research the interviewer has put into the subject matter / person.

So I'm not suggesting Rod needs to research everyone's complete bio before engaging them with questions, but a couple of things that could be done are:

    • If you know the interviewee interacts/hangs about with other VFDC members, then approach them privately for specific questions, trivia, stories, etc, that can be used in the interview.
    • Invite the interviewee a chance to offer any specific stories, anecdotes, experiences, gaming or non-gaming related.

Also, I'm not sure how Rod conducts the interview. Is it "live" and then transcribed for later? Or is it just done via PM/Email? The advantage of it being "live" is that it allows the interviewer to branch off into sub-topics, or expand on a response by the interviewee, allowing for some back-and-forth dialogue.

If you combine the above, along with a standard set of questions (ring name, character choice, how did you start, hobbies, job, etc) then I think you have a framework in place to produce some entertaining interviews.

Again, these are only suggestions, and I don't want to create any more work for the guys involved with the Q&As.
