Akira is best suited to a stick. I can tell you from experience that almost everything akira has can be done on a pad, but in my opinion you will learn faster on a stick, and in some cases it's just plain easier (like certain back and forth motions can be done quickly on a stick).

Buy a decent stick, and don't you dare ask which one /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif ... there are about 20 threads on this board talking about which sticks are good for playing VF.

Bah, everything Akira has can be done on a pad. It just needs dexterity; also, expect lots of frustration. VF can be played on a pad, but stick is way better when it comes to consistency.

I can play pretty well with Akira using the pad... however the stick is indeed better... but if you want to make it slightly easier on yourself without buying the stick for Akira, just use the Shenmue button setup :

    Square - P
    X - K
    Circle - P+G
    Triangle - Guard

I found this to work a lot easier for Akira on the D-pad... however if your using a stick the 4th button is totally uneccesary... lol

BTW if your using that move as a follow up on a floater move then I suggest you just use the easier one (if your playing Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution that is)
    [3][K]+[G][6][P][8][P]+[K]
    or
    [3][K]+[G][6][P][8][2][K]
