vf####: your secret to evading half-circulars?

smb told me u've checked out everyone on the games half-circulars!! Do u care to give a general breakdown of what direction i should evade agahnsf each chatacter, or is this kbowledge ya keeping 2 urself, and i gotta research on my own

 

This information is visible in the movelists, evade direction reads either b/-,f/-,or -/-. f = front side, b = back side. -/- means move cannot be evaded ie. its circular.

If it reads b/f it means it can be evaded in both directions and is therefore linear. etc.

Quite frankly, there are so many moves that are semi or fullcircular I cant really give a good answer to your question. It would be better if you researched these by your self. Usually you can evade the fast moves to both directions, and circular moves are usually bit slow.

Some characters have however certain signature fullcirculars:
Jacky /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif mid fullcircular, Vanessa shadow slicer /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif Lion /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif both mid fullcirculars.

Lot of characters have low sweeps that are generally very punishable on block: Lion, Lau, Pai, Lei, brad, Kage, Shun, Sarah, etc. As you can see, most characters actually have moves that cannot be evaded easy. But its important to learn the weaknesses of those moves, and learn to punish them.

Theres only one character in game who doesnt have fullcircular, Akira.

Pay attention to which half-circ's you can throw, as 90% of people I play evade away from the screen.

This won't dramatically improve your game or anything but every little bit helps

yah', i m not too down with someone changing my topics name cause they don't know what it means. WTF, i wrote it so i named it what i wanted. i hate how nit-picky advice gets around here. i just want a general answer like 'it's best to evade towards jackys back' or some such. I realize everybody has full circs and a variety, and u do diff things in diff situations. i know i know. Its like if a noob asked what throw 2 escape vs wolf and i explained every throw wolf has, and tne merits of fuzzy gaurd, duck dash, etc, etc,etc,etc, when really all that is needed to say is forward and throw is his strongest so do it. oh well, my rant is over

learn your opponents tendencies of their favorite half circulars by watching replays and practice recognizing it and watching foot position of ur opponent

we could all just calm down. I'm social ruin isn't too upset that you changed the name of his thread. And i'm sure akai doesn't really want you to report him to myke. And i'm sure he could have held off on changing the name of the thread to see if it made sense to anyone. and i'm sure you guys are pleased with my stepping in to moderate.

 

no, i was just being bitchy. I couldnt change it back, lol. as 2 pm-ing him...well, we all really like this forum and like having new topics to post on, and well heck gerns came in and gave me exactly what i was looking for--assuming he didnt mislead me cause he hates me lol. But seriously, there are not enough good topics without me going private on it. thanks for moderating and talking me down from that ledge

The reason why is because general answers can cause some (not necessarily you, but think about the trolls) people to think that the general answer is the absolute answer, then they go and make it reflexive, and wonder why they have problems against high level jackies for example.
Plus, sometimes people like to go into threads and dig up a time when you were wrong about something. And nothing beats quick answers for quote-mining purposes;p
Just like a little reminder that nothing defends against everything... (at least this is my theory as to why people do that)

Obviously some of these are debatable but it's a great start. I think Jeff's deadly Kenka Hook guards his stomach so it seems a little dangerous (this has been mentioned before too.)

With Lion, his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif covers his back so I used to love when people dodged to his back just because that move is easy, fast and heavily delayable...

Basically following this list will help though IMHO...

in terms of evading lei most of his normal stance move 6k+g,4k+gk 6pp,8k+g, 66p+k, k+g r evaded towards his stomach and only k is evaded to his back side.
