Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Um... hullo. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

So I go to the movies to see Domino this weekend, and what do I happen on but an extreme rarity in Montreal these days: A VF4 machine. Much to the chagrin of my gf, I spent the next fifteen minutes or so playing against the CPU with Lion & Sarah, struggling to remember what little I learned however long ago that this confounded game came out. Of course, I'm also fighting back the inclination to rant about how much more I liked VF2, but hey...

But now, I'm kind of thirsty for more.

Anybody know of a VF4FT machine in Montreal?... How about an arcade that would even consider having a VF5 machine, whenever the darned thing comes out?... Do people even play in this city anymore?

Oh, and any of you old schoolers still out there? /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Wow - old school of major proportion.

I remember reading your name back in 1996 when Catherine and I were first studying VF3. Nice to see you around here even though we've never met (if that makes any sense).

    BigCat, salut!

Whilst I was in Montreal last year, from what I recall there wasn't even an Evo machine around. Instead, a bunch of guys would come around to my apartment every week or so to play Evo on the ps2. At that time, most of the good/big arcades on St. Catherine were closing/closed down as well. Not sure how good VF5's chances are looking. I think the closest FT machine to you would be in Toronto.

Anyway, nice to hear you got the VF itch, again! /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

    Hey Bigcat,

nice to see you posting. We still have FT in toronto but I have heard rumours it might be moving soon.

Aside from that we still play VF2 and VF3. If you ever find yourself out and about in the big city let us know and we'll try and arrange something!!

Wow, a VF4 machine in Montreal? I had a hard time just looking for an arcade. I finally found one, but no VF unfortunetly. Where did you find that machine BigCat? I assume not a lot of people play, but it'd be interesting to try out anyways.

The arcade I went to might consider getting VF5, hopefully. They have two tekken machines, so they can easily take one out for VF /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

    Cool... responses. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Nice to hear that you guys are alive and kicking out there!

Stealth_Fox: The VF4 machine I found was in the Paramount downtown. Yeah, not ideal, but best of 5 and 50c, which is a surprisingly good deal any way you slice it. The largest (only?) downtown arcade is on Ste. Catherine's right next to Crescent, but no VF to be had there, last time I checked.

GE: I will indeed warn you all if I'm coming down, but I don't have any business in T.O. for the moment. I'll have to make some time, though, right? Who's "we", btw?

Hmm, Paramount huh? Yeah, not very ideal, I don't feel like watching a movie (anything good out now?) just to play one game that I'll probably end up playing by myself anyway.

Oh and that arcade on St. Catherine and Crescent is probably the only arcade in Montreal. There's another in St-Hubert I haven't checked, but I doubt there's any VF there too. Hopefully VF5 will help increase the Montreal VF scene...wait, I mean create a Montreal VF scene /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    Hey Big Cat,

VF FT scene = Llanfair, Kbcat, Plasma, B4k4, mall and to a very lesser degree, me.

VF2 VF3/TB scene = llanfair, Kbcat, Shroud, Plasma (kinda) and to a huge degree, me.

If you find yourself in the area let us know. We'd be glad to get something together, I think.

Well well well. Hey there Stealth_Fox and BigCat. I'll see if I can't get a little something something set up for a few Mtl VFers. I know RockJoe would be game, so is Fagan (my nemesis). RockJoe and myself being a part of the gang Myke was refering to.

If I can just get of my dumb ass and clean the appartment I'll get us some beer and plug in the old game for a few fights. It'd be good to get a little crew on the go. I got 2 sticks so no issues there. They take up half my living room, but I'll figure something /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

    I'm all hyped now. Awsome.

Hey Cuz, glad to hear there are some fellow Mtl vfers out there! That'd be awesome if you could hold a small gathering for VF. I have to warn you though, I'm a huge vf newb /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif Anyways, keep me posted, I'm definetly interested.

Long time reader, first time poster.

Wow, and to think I was starting to believe that I was the only one in Montreal to even know what VF was...

But yeah, If anyone's ever been to the colloseum (spelling??) in Laval, if my memory serves me right, there's a VF machine there. I used to play after my movie finished.

Don't really go there that much anymore, I usually head to the west island to watch movies now.

Anyone here in cegep...for all I know, one of you might go to my school...

    Peace!

Hey poppa. Cool to see another VF Montrealer. I thought I was the only one who played vf here too lol. The arcade scene is pretty weak as far as I can tell (one arcade on the whole island). The arcade's pretty decent, though I haven't really been to any others. Let's keep our fingers crossed they'll get a VF5 machine in there when it comes out /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Btw what cegep do you go to?

Ya, VF is awsome...be even better if there were at least a decent amount of players here.

God I hope we get VF 5, we need something awsome to bring the arcade sceen.

Stuck playing Tekken cause there aint any competition here. Oh well.

Yeah I'll be at the arcades a lot more often if we get VF5 here as well. The chances might be a little slim because of the estimated price tag of the cabs (15 000$? American?), but I think there's still some hope. Anyway I hope we can still build a stronger vf scene even if we don't get a machine in the arcade, once it comes to consels.

Where does your information for pricing vf5 come from? The only thing I have seen with a price for the lindbergh is house of the dead 4 so far. Please link me...
    Thx

We got the same $15,000 pricing figure from the powers-that-be at AI. It includes two HD screens for a VS. set-up.

That's where I got that price from (PhoenixDth mentioned it in the Sega Private Show thread). I guess I should have used the word 'speculated' instead of 'estimated'...
Anyway all I know is it won't be cheap, and I'm wondering if smaller arcades will be able to get these new arcade games.

I really don't see a problem with getting it at local arcades. They have already spent it on shooting, driving, and dancing games before in the same price range. Your also talking cab and kit. No word yet on just kit price.
Only lindbergh item for sale I have seen is hotd4 here with preorder:

we're talking about new dual cabs, new hardware, 2 HD widescreen about 30" screens, card stuff and real estate, for a game that generates minimum cashflow.

Plus those bemani games charge a $1 per play. I seriously dont think $1 vf games are going to attract any new players.
