VF4 - Arcade vs Console - Set Up

We are experimenting with the attachment of a Playstation joystick to an arcade machine so that we can make console players more welcome and comfortable at Dynamic League tournaments.

I don't think I will be able to persuade the engineer to mount joypad sockets on both P1 and P2 sides for the experiment.

Which side should have the joypad and why?

 

I'd say to put the joystick on P1 side... people who aren't comfortable with sticks are probably going to have more trouble executing difficult moves while facing left as well.
