According to Arcadia, it says there are new move types like:

    - Reversal to DOWN throw, e.g. by VF4 Aoi, EVO Wolf, EVO Goh

    - Escape from DOWN attack

    - Escape in the air?

I'd like if anybody else give a comment here.

If "Escape in the air" is anything like Soul Calibur's air rolling stuff, then I'd be very, very happy. I never liked juggling.

According to the photos in the mag and japanese headline, it seems to be. My japanese is not good enough to prove it at the moment.

Escape in the air made me think of Akira's new DLC variants we heard about being escaped in the middle of a juggle. I believe that it's only in certain situation and not all the time where you can escape juggles (If the move is indeed like this).

Also, the reports from Gaijinpunch and the other guys haven't mentioned anything about that.. So I don't think it's even there /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Air Escapes are not a good thing in my opinion. Fast, combination style characters like Lau and especially Sarah rely on float combos as their prime sources of damage (Sarah more so then anyone else).

This would really upset the balance of the game as I understand it. Imagine, heavy characters that are already hard to combo in the air could recover so they receive little to no damage. I don't like that idea at all.

I know EVO has a lot of changes in terms of character technique but I don't know if AM2 could design an engine where such an option was included and it still felt like Virtua Fighter.

it would pretty badly fuck VF if the primary mode of combinations was made escapeable in some way. I hope this is just a poor translation. If float escapes are in the game they'd better require prediction and 1 frame timing.

I'll likely pick up that Arcadia today and check it out. As for reversals of thrwos -- I've only seen escapes for Aoi & Goh's down throws, although I know you can escape Wolf's down throws. I've not heard of a throw reversal before.

To be exact, the air escape applies to the circumstance where you're hit by a move with a DOWN effect. With air escape (or air rolling) technique, the player can avoid the subsequent damages due to the unfavorable situation as in VF4. But judging from the photos, your back will be turn towards your opponent on landing ground.

Impact to combo moves like Akira's ([P]+[K]+[G][4][3][P]+[K][4]/[6][P])
