    VF4 Evolution Flash
Not much there, but it'll probably be a good idea to bookmark, since I'm sure AM2 will be updating it. In the meantime, you can watch a flash movie with renders of the newbies from the Tekken Reject Squad, yay!
(Well, OK, maybe they'll grow on me. I'll admit I didn't care for the FV characters much when the game first came out years ago, and now look at me.)

    A bit of other news:
No word on a home console port for VF4E. I have this feeling it probably won't be coming home for a while, if at all.

AM2's also got a new Mahjohngg game coming out. Er, yeah. Well, I'm sure coming from AM2, it'll be really good Mahjohngg, but...

And still nothing on FV3. Sniff.

Horrible, looks like they added generic stupid US approved chara designs now that the game is starting to enjoy mainstream western succes .

    Well, still no Taka-Comeback.............
Brad Burns seems to be a Kickboxer while Gou Himori is a Judofighter. There seem to be new Game modes Quest(?) & Missionmode(?)................for an Arcadegame, probably fake info. The Grafics have also been reworked. For example they added rain.........

This is the new Sega probably we will get a lot of VF Sequels and Evolutions..........hmmmmmmmm

Hey Zerochan let's hope we'll also get a Fighting Vipers Sequel, at least the producer mentioned in an interview that he would like to make one. But i think it will be a difficult task, because FV2 wasn't a great sucess...........

    >There seem to be new Game modes
    >Quest(?) & Missionmode(?)

This is confirmed fact. It's only been reported by every news site covering the game. It makes sense, given the card system.

    >This is the new Sega probably we will get a lot of VF Sequels and Evolutions..........hmmmmmmmm

Sega's not Capcom. They know better. Granted, they've released VF upgrades in the past (2.1 and 3tb) but nothing ever as large and ambitious as this.
Less discerning game companies would try to pass something like this off as a sequel. This is probably the last revision before the real sequel (which, knowing AM2, won't come around for a few years.).

Maybe it's the 2P outfit. Hell, with any luck the 2P outfits will look less lame...

Hell, the first pic I saw, I thought that *was* Jin Kazama. The new characters do look more like Tekken 4 art than VF4 art to me.

Looks like most chars have different hairstyles in addition to more items. Pai with glasses is kinda neat.

gee seriously, i thought that looked exactly like Jin too except with one of those short-sleeved pornstar vests. Well at least we should give SEGA/AM2 some time to dish out the final product. This far down the line, I'm sure they're not going to bring something awful all of a sudden.

And where are you guys getting info/pics of BG rain and game modes? Any links would be appreciated.

Indeed I really like Sarah's new hair style (RIP ponytail). To be honest I love the look. Though VF has always been at the forefront of 3D fighter advances it has always kept that (for lack of a better word) virtua quality to it. That it wasn't real only a simulation. From the very beginning Tekken forced it's style down punters throats, it has a feel that I've felt VF has lacked. Only recently have the VF characters shown more character via logos and accessories but they never had that slick factor of Tekken that I liked. Until now it seems.

I hope the cosmetic makeover also makes serious amends on some characters styles. Lau is so wooden I'd really like him to get some versatility. Sarah needs the Flamingo stance to be integrated more into her regular stance etc.

I don't like their faces ...........let's hope they fight better then they look.

I know Sega's and Vf's History very well.............and i think Kayama is changing a lot. We will get a lot of franchises(revival) in the next years........2 new characters in such a short time is really something new for Vf(that doesn't mean it is bad). I hope Sega doesn't forget to create "new" games(like nights or FVipers in 95-96).
I don't think there will be such a long wait period like between Vf3 and Vf4. They shoud be carefull not to overuse the franchise (like FinalFantasy!?) without creating totally new and innovative sequels(though keeping the tradition).

i thought that Yu mentioned some years ago that VF5 will be the last Vf Game, if this is true, i don't think thats gona happen, because Kayama san wants money to keep sega going......and Vf seems to be an essential game for this firm /versus/images/icons/wink.gif ........

Man, VF4 character faces seem to be getting worse and worse as the series goes along.... Jacky looks like Terminator with a bad hairdo, Lau looks like some aging man, Lei Fei looks like some general from RTK outta his time, Lion looks like some teen transvestite, and now we have a Junkie and a Elvis Presley/Gangster impersonator.... Whatever will we have next ??? /versus/images/icons/mad.gif

man, you guys make me sick...

(this is not a reply to rulakir, but to all FFF (inside joke, nm) players out there. /versus/images/icons/wink.gif )

stop pretending you dont like the new characters damm it! stop -trying- to be so damm hardcore/pure and all that, you KNOW you like them!! they look fucking cool to me! so he's got a hood on....big deal! that's cool to me, fuck it. and what's so wrong about tekken character designs? the good ones that tekken has are phat (the good ones as in NOT the weird ones like the animals and stuff). this is what sega proly thought: "hey lets take -some- of the cool parts we like about soul calibur/tekken/other, and lets just put it on VF4, but we'll keep our own gameplay" and what's wrong with that? VF imo never had bad character design, if you guys know sega you should know their stuff grows on you to the point that something that others consider tacky other would just love it in a sega kind of way, you know it, the daytonaaaaaaaaa!!! song , the voices in their fighting game quotes, the desings in fighting vipers...ect. now i bet you LOVE that shit now (you are a sega fan are you?) remember vanessa? most of you didn't like her -before-. i think sega is giving VF characters a little just a little more personality, instead of "the ninja" "the karate guy" ...ect.

I Know What Console is Getting VF4:E!!!

Actually, I shouldn't put all those !!! in there, because I'm pissed. It's coming out for XBOX! God DAMMIT! Why are they making all these games for PS2, and then they come out with better versions for XBOX!! MGS2: Substance, at least they're porting it to PS2 also, GTA3 they tried, but it was cancelled, but now VF4:E! and I think it's gonna be exclusive. Check the news:

    Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution Details
    Talon | 9:17 | Console

As part of the Xbox Summer Conference 2002 that’s currently being held in Japan, Sega unveiled new details on Virtua Fighter Evolution, most importantly that it’s coming to Xbox. According to Famitsu the upcoming game will be, at its core, a remix of Virtua Fighter 4 with new gameplay modes, Mission and Quest mode. The game will also show off Go Himori and Brand Brurns, two of the newest characters to grace the Virtua Fighter series. All of this was revealed with screenshots and a movie on the side for good measure.
While a release date wasn’t announced, seeing as the game wasn’t listed on the updated software page, its unlikely this game will see the light of day before 2003. Stay with us for more news as it develops.

Ok, I love VF4 as much as anyone but the biggest flaw this game has is it's poor characters. I'm not going to get into a Tekken vs VF argument because i love VF way more but Tekken has always had better characters. The only reason I play Tekken sometimes is beause their characters are so damn cool (just the main ones not the stupid bears and robots).

Anyway, there is nothing wrong with a little Tekkenish characters, you say that like it is a bad thing. Hopefully, the existing characters will get totally revamped so they are not do robotic and lame. The only reason the new guys look like Tekken characters is because they have personality and look like they came from this century. What bothers me is that all the other characters will really appear to be dull with these guys in the game.

They seem to be taking a turn for the better with the way these two characters appear and everyone complains? Would you of perfered another big dumb guy and a ninja?

I can understand your "I hate everything Tekken" attitude, Tekken 4 did that to all of us but you have to admit they have the most depth of any fighting game characters. Tekken characters in a VF4 game would be a dream come true.

Tripp: Sorry dude, SNK's got the characters/story thing on lock but this is a VF forum so...

So far I don't like the new characters (at least in appearance). If VF wants to bite they could at least pick something not so obvious as Tekken. There's plenty of stuff out there to choose from.

I also agree with piccalo in the fact that VF characters grow on you so there's room for hope. However I liked the VF staple of having normal folks for characters that you could meet on the street and not be freaked out (except Vannessa and her Storm impersonation). Every other game has a character that's some superfreak like Goh that's practically anime-ish in nature so why does VF need that? VF was doing it's own thing, it wasn't popular because everyone wants the badasses, but it was it's own little niche in the fighting game world. The game was being true to itself and it's roots which as a VF fan I accepted and respected until they start whorin' themselves out to the mainstream.

    *potentially warped viewpoint up ahead*

To me the biggest problem with VF is the story. It has these normal joe blow characters but in the end it falls into some secret cartel trying to rule the world junk that's been done a million times over. They did all of this just to explain why they had a silver chick as a boss. If you remove Dural you'd really have no evidence that any sci-fi mumbo jumbo is taking place. The best character backstory is the Lau/Pai thing. It's plausible, it has nothing to do with J6, and could be even better with Lei Fei in the mix. Real life can be really interesting and dramatic as well so Am2 could have stayed within the VF bounds for the new characters. Characters could have real reasons to fight like:

"I'm too dumb to do anything else."

"I need this money to get outta debt. Visa's fuckin' me up!"

"I'm just doin' this to get girls."

    However, don't hate me if in 6 months I'm a Goh whore saying, "he's so badass!" I can't fight 10 years of anime/video game/movie/comic conditioning. /versus/images/icons/wink.gif
