I've not seen one of Jacky's items yet. So let's just get that out of the way.

Jacky players are going to have a few things to get used to if I understand properly. As before, his [6][P] elbow is missing.[P][P][6][P] is still there from what I can tell.

He's got a nice mid punch which staggers -- lots of guys putting in throws here.

Contrary to what Jacky players will tell you (as they're likely not that used to him) he still seems like the strongest character in the game, although he's toned down a bit w/o the elbow. The flying knee being gone as well as a much-welcomed tweak.

Unfortunately, there's still a huge rewards for pussies who just sit there and wait to unload on their brave opponents. The only way to fight a passive Jacky, is to make sure you've got more damage, and be passive yourself. Also, you can't duck too long, as he's still got a barage of mid-starting combos to flatten you with.

Hmmm True
Although I am disappointed that they took out the [6][P] elbow and the floating knee. They were the basis of my offense. The elbow was quick and a great setup for combos (better than [P][P] anyway), also the knee WAS Jacky's only float that I am aware of (dunno maybe ive grown complacent in the knee /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif ). Although it shouldnt be THAT hard to adapt, just gotta use BKC more often heh . My question is whether all the tweaks for Jacky were to make him weaker. Were there any mods that actually benefited him?

I'm sure there's something in there that's good before. He definitely looks cooler when fighting now. I'm sure a lot of Jacky's will tell you he's all weak now, but he's plenty strong. I wouldn't sweat it too much.

One thing I forgot -- Jacky does have a new throw. I don't know the command, but he grabs his opponent by the back of the head, and punches them in the face three times -- the third knocking them down. Didn't seem to do a lot of damage.

I saw a couple of Jacky's items last night. He had a backpack, and soemthing that I shit you not looked like leg warmers (always thought he was gay) but not so fluffy. Imagine cutting off some pretty thick jeans at the knee, then pulling those up like socks.

How are his new moves?
Is his jumping knee there? or is it replaced by Lion style knee completely?
How is his new move [1]+[P]+[K],[P],[P],[K] ?

DIdn't see that new move, so can't comment. Most of his new moves seem really choppy compared to the way he used to flow.

His flying knee thank god is totally gone.

Trying my hand at translation neotowah's thoughts on jacky --

Elbow is gone but the substitute move works just like an elbow.
Knee is gone and is replaced with a funky looking toe kick (shown in clips) that floats only on counter.

[1][P][K] is a new attack, and there's also P,P+K. (listed as P, P and K [under K] ???).

[3][3]+[K] is new as well, and is compared to a dragon cannon. It's said to start combos and will likely become the new knee substitute.

[3][P][K] is different, similar to wolf's body blow. Forces crouch on counterhit still? Causes stagger?

Something startling that must be an april fools joke: The rest is 46 P+K. Powdery-substance-to-fling-in-the-eyes っす. It is the upper row.
Since it falls quite in back and a partner staggers, after making it hit
It is hard to apply 2 択. It is fairly delicate.

Okay, so you can fling dirt into their face to make them stagger (it hits high), but since you're so far away afterwards, it's hard to apply a followup. Wtf /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

Something about animation changes for backfists. Old VF2ish animation for low backfist --> sweep?
=========
Other info courtesy of neotowah: The baiagu step, whichever that is, is now gone in EVO. I think multiple cancelled backwards c-dashes.

Something about lau's new stuff, his b,f+P, and a new throw: [2][6][P][G] .
Jacky did well at the test sites, win-streak-wise.

Jacky generally does win I suppose. (Sigh). Where'd you get Neo Tower's thoughts? Kyasao's BBS?

Stage size has changed for some stages, a few of them are larger. Others are said to have more depth to the BG(?). You can RO over the unbreakable low walls (this isn't new but the guy's mentioning it... maybe I'm misreading? "some half fence stages became large (about 1 surroundings), and the fence only of four corners was lost.
That is, out of the ring one is possible also for a destructive impossible half fence. " I think this is referring to all stages are breakable in the corners, something mentioned earlier.

That derivation of a dash hammer becomes [ a knee ] still slower in being late .. IIRC, dash hammer = f,f+K. I've read on a different source that this has has a new, longer range animation. Maybe a knee looking thing.

High backfist is different and may no longer crumble on MC (this from another site). Double sidekick is gone (ditto) and [4][K] is different looking.

[1][P][K] is still in, but the entire lightning storm is gone. From [1][P][K] (the shot knee) you can press [K] again for a high kick.

[6][6][P][G] is completely different now, it's a backfist to the face? - the resulting change in position and range may be similar.

both the new knee-substitute and the new puntkick-substitute have slower execution than their current equivalents. Overally impression seems to be that jacky is weaker.

Oh, one last bit from the other site: PPK is now PP-knee always. Old PPK is gone.

I have a few other bits from this site that I'll stick in their respective threads.

I think this is referring to some stages with unbreakable low walls (lion's stage for e.g.) now have the wall removed from the corners, allowing for normal ringouts. You can see this in one of the IGN evo .mov's posted a while ago where some dude is playing against CPU Lion.

Thanks for the translations you've been doing lately, CreeD.

You are correct, Myke-san. Lion's Stage, and Jacky's from what I remember. You Kage's & Wolf's should love that. :)

Hi.

Someone mentioned earlier that Jacky "looks cooler" when he's fighting... or something to that effect. Can anyone elaborate? Are we talking resting animations similar to Jann Lee in DOA3? Or what?

Thanks,
Æon

Re: More Jacky Jism for Junky's Jungle!

probably this is referring to his new animations for the most basic attacks. Stuff like f+K and f+P has been nearly standardized in the VF series for years... and so Sega probably thought "you know, half of the moves jacky players use look just like moves the other characters are fond of. This is pretty unoriginal and bland looking for a JKD specialist"

Or maybe they didn't think anything like that.
But anyway his old elbow is now a new punch that looks like one of jann lee's moves. His old knee, which is something Sarah and the wrestlers already specialize in, is gone. In its place is a midlevel kick to the head which floats only on MC. Some other animations are supposed to be different too. I dunno if his basic fighting stance was changed or not.

Some random stuff.

[3][P]+[K]---> [P][G]
New hit throw for Jacky.

[8][K]+[G]
New move, slow execution.

[6][6][K]
No longer throw counterable. Possible to go into a back-turned position by tapping [4] after move. [P] or [K] are possible options after back is turned.

[7][K]
Possible to air combo with it now cause stunt time after hit has been shortened.

[P][K][G][K] ---> SSS now possible.

Theres some other stuff but I can't recall so thats all for now.

Thanks for the info...

[7][K] --> possible to air combo with it now

How do you mean? You don't just mean using it in floats I take it.
To start floats?!

Re: More Jacky Jism for Junky's Jungle!

Hi there, just a couple more questions:

[3][P]+[K]--->[P][G]

What does the throw look like? How does [3][P]+[K] fare as a single strike used alone (or with followups)?

[8][K]+[G]

What does this look like? How useful?

Thanks,
Æon

I think the hit combo is like Wolf's, Aoi's, and Vanessa's -- you have to execute the throw on hit. Can be quite tricky. From what I remember, the throw doesn't take off a lot of damage.

As for what it "looks" like, it's like Jeff's throw combo, where he holds the opponent and punches a few times in the face.

As for the [7][K]:
A guy did this combo a few times the other -- and did some on my as well. [P][6][K] (float) [7][K]. Does a lot of daamge, but not as much as Ver. C's [P]+[K][P][K] if memory serves.

No, I mean its safe to use it in floats now because Jacky doesn't taunt his opponent after the kickflip anymore i.e you can't punish him out of a techroll.
