1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Yeah I got it. Yeah I love it.

I'm gonna hijack this thread for two (2) purposes. 1st, I want people to list the little things they've noticed in EVO so far. (There are a lot). 2nd, I'm going to get a full menu translation done by, oh, say, 6pm on the 17th. For all us gaijin. So look for it here or tell me that you've already got it covered.

Ok, here's my list so far (remember, little things... we all know that there's a Quest mode... also, fighter-specific changes might do best on their own thread, so that players of that character can find the info on that fighter's home page):
    - When you do a move that the character verbalizes (Sarah's "eeYAH!", or Wolf's "Take this!", and you get interrupted in that move, your character shuts up immediately. This is different from VF4, and it's a nice little subtle touch.
    - Raining on the Great Wall. God, it looks great. And the little splash animations from fighter's footwork are beautifully understated... a triumph of Japanese artistic restraint, I think. Along with this, the Beach stage now has fine granules of sand being kicked up. Don't underestimate this if you haven't seen it yet... it's gorgeous.
    - Dural's breasts are very... um... liquid. Bouncy might have been nice, but this is kind of ugly in my opinion. I guess it could be said to go with the character, but it's kinda freaky looking.
    - You can see the fighter's breath condensing in France. Awesome.
    - Fighter's facial expressions are more noticeable during fights. Not sure If they've been reworked, or if it's just the improved graphics.
    - City and Castle are now Open in the corners. That is to say, there's still a wall on all four sides, but the walls don't meet at the corners any more.
    - Yes, evading has definitely changed. There's another post of mine looking for the definitive answers on this subject.
    - Your fighters are saved along with your system file now, instead of separately... haven't yet figured out the implications of this, but there is a great thread on it already called... "Huge Error in EVO?" or something like that.

OK, what have you guys noticed?

    - AI are a lot more savy... especially, they seem to be aware of the health differential and the clock all of a sudden... strikingly different than VF4. An AI that has you down to 30% health and they're at 90%+ or so, will back off and wait for you to attack, just like a human player. An AI that is at 20% with you at 25% and 2 seconds on the clock will come at you with a calculated fury, seeming to know that they need that one magic hit. Again, it feels more like fighting a thinking human being than ever.
I thought the VF4 AI was pretty damned good and deep, but EVO seems to have taken it to the next level.

A nice touch that I know srider wanted to share with us all first but I'm gonna spoil it:

You can go to the movelist, press X (iirc) for a given move.. and if that move leads to a combo, the game will show you the combos that stem from it. You can choose stance and weight class and it will spit back the ideal combo (well, I dunno if they're ideal but they're close enough).

    A REALLY nice touch.
Speaking of, I always though it'd be cool if the game displayed exactly how many frames moves are in a method similar to the visual display of button presses frame-by-frame. Something to think about to make the next VF even-more-perfectererer.
