So far, very few posts have talked about the music in VF4. VF2 had a kicking soundtrack, VF1's was pretty good, and most are disappointed with VF3's. I know this seems like a poll-type question, but which stages have the best music? I'll be on the lookout for them.

From what I've heard, the music seems really varied. You have the esoteric type of trance music in Vanessa's stage, gothic interlude in Lion's stage, traditional music with an upbeat twist in Lau's stage, Jacky's rock guitars, et. al. Right now I have to say I like Lion's music the most.

Found of the marina and castle and Jacky's rooftop.

The rest kinda blows. The dojo was sort of interesting, I guess.
Most of the clips have halfassed music or you can't hear it at all, bummer.

It seems like every fighting series has gone the same route in terms of music. Back in their early stages, they relied on music with a catchy tune and atmosphere....but later degenerated their tunes into "noise". I haven't heard much of VF music....but from VF3 I liked Lau's and Sarah's music. I'll be willing to bet, however, that VF2's music was much better overall.

I imagine that VF4 has gone much the same route Tekken has....with complex but emotionally vapid "noise". Loud beats but no tunes. That's sad.

Actually, VF4 music is quite diverse and rich. The Volume at the Casino is always on and when I go there in the morning I can clearly hear the soundtracks. If there is a particular theme then I would say it's "up-beat" as all the soundtracks have a techno edge to them but they are all perfectly suited to the characters they were written for. An Example:

Wolf music is very hard Rock, the electric guitar features heavily and it gives a very intense feel that reflects his stage.

Sarah's is very melancholy, It starts very mildly then gets into a rhythm that compliments the lightning and the chaos of her stage crumbling around you but it never takes off, it's always in the middle, confused if you will.

Lau's music has a women wailing in the background. To me, it gives the sense of height and wind, the fact that you are on the largest man made structure on the planet and it's a long way down.

And Dural, her music is very mechanical, clinical and remorseless. Like a evil cyborg should be.

Yes. I do think AM2 took some lessons from Tekken but, I've always liked that Techno funky style music. For me it does it's job just fine and I can clearly feel each character through their music.

The bgm for Kage's stage, Aoi's stage, and Vanessa's stage are really nice, but my favorite is the snowy rooftop bgm (Lion's stage). The clip from the VF4 discs, vf4_gam2, is a great clip for hearing the bgm clearly without interference from other background noises. Wolf's stage, Lei's stage, and Lion's stage are shown in the clip. Another good clip is Myke's Kage combo clip.
