Hi guys, im a total newbie to the VF4 scene. I use to use Jacky in VF2, but just abused his [P][K] into stomp over and over again. Now I've begun to play VF4, i tried using Jacky, but he isn't nearly as fun as i remembered. So i messed around and discovered Akira, i find that he is really satifisfying to use so i decided to stick with him and try to get better but I've looked over your combos lists and threads... but um... im just totally lost with all the SDE, inasha, sabishi or something like that, SPOD (Stun palm of death?) and etc.

Anyways i was just wondering if any of you had any good tips for using Akira?

I can do all his moves except for the last hit of Stun Palm of Death, and the last hit of his other 3 hit combo...
Also i can't do the Knee, but i read that thread about how most ppls can't! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    So ya...
Thanks for your guy's help in advance!

You have very interesting choice in characters being that you pick up the game for the first time since VF2 and decide to pick Akira (one of the most difficult to use characters in the game, don't get me wrong he's good just hard). If you are resolved to using Akira, you may want to wait for one of the friendly neighborhood Akira players (IMF, Madagascar, Shou). You may want to experiment some more to make absolutley sure you have a character you want to stick with (if you find out later that he isn't it may turn you off the game and we wouldn't want that /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif). I personally play Leifei, easy to use, hard to master character but that's just me. Go with what feels right. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ya, i think i will stick to Akira. I know he's an expert character (from the instruction booklet /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) but i find he is probably the most fun to use. When i use other characters i find i end up doing like 2 or 3 of the same moves over and over just hoping for a win. However, when i am using Akira it feels like i'm actually winning do to some small amount of skill i may actually have. So ya I guess i'll stick with Akira unless you have a suggestion for any other characters~

Tho i do wanna try brad and goh when evo comes out in north america!

    Hey, new Akira player!

First of all, Choosing Akira for your primary charater

is not an easy but a good decision, cause if you

become good at playing with Akira, you will have not

much of problem using other characters in the game.

I first recommend you to use a stick for Akira. I am not

saying that it is impossible to get good with a pad,

but if you do the same amount of practice with a stick,

you will be much better off. I could do Spod, DLC, and

Shoulder ram,P, shoulder ram, Double palm combo

with the PS2 pad with lots of dedicated practice, but

like I said, if I spent the same amount of time on

practicing with a stick from the beginning, I would been

a much better player than I am now.

For DLC, Spod, or other hard looking Akira combos,

go to the practice mode and turn on the "Input display"

stuff so that you can see what you did wrong and right.

if you have any question, PM me. I will answer to your

question as far as I know. Good luck. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
