Don't have the time to look through them thoroughly, but it's nice to see Pai, Vanessa (especially), Wolf, and Lau here. I don't have a clear enough view to read the names on the player data windows. Nor can I read the kanji. Anbody want to translate these names? (I'm guessing the Pai player is the same throughout).

I definitely like the way the Pai player plays. Quite a bit of old and new stuff in VF4 application! Looks like it'll be awhile before we see some good stuff with Vanessa.

The video clips are wonderful; much thanks as always for providiing them. It's probably still too early to tell how different the gameplay in VF4 will be from its predecessors, but so far, everything looks wonderful. Heck, maybe the prozines will actually -- gasp! -- play the damn thing for more than five minutes before moving on to Super Smash Brothers.

I'm curious about the sandbox stage in the fourth clip (Pai vs Lau). We know that the sand shifts from the players' movement, but how does it affect gameplay? How deep does the sand go? Is this merely a wonderful graphic flourish, or could a player shift the sand around enough to become noticably lower than his opponent? Would there be a subtler form of VF3's undulating terrain? It's something I've been wondering about for some time, and I'd like to know what everyone's experience has been so far.

Thanks for the heads up on the movie links! The camera focus is a little off, but Pai's playing style more than makes up for it.

All arenas in VF4 are completely flat, and are either walled, fenced (breakable walls), or open. Sand and snow effects on the ground are eye candy and have no effect on gameplay.

I've heard some rumors that the arena's in VF4 will feature the ability to go through flooring as well.

A new clip has surfaced on Daily Virtua Fighter 4.

This time it's yamiyodare vs. kyasao. However, the issues that happened during the "launch" of the first two clips seem to be happening again as I only got 4.4 out of 22MB and the file stopped downloading.

Damn if Pai don't look like she might do some type of damage this go around, I'm sure Andy will be happy with that : ) Crazy movement with the wushu, I wanna see how she does against the heavies. Probably get chewed like always..lol

 

Hey E-Dog! Yep...i knew you and Andy would bust a nut watching those Pai clips - she looks like she definitely got some weapons. I hear Akira don't need much in VF4, aside from his lethal *dodge*--->bodychek - Hiro tells me that is what Akira players seem to be emphasizing in Japan. Ease of execution and buttuz damage...*priceless*.

 

Take a look at the third clip (Vanessa vs. Pai), 1st round. Vanessa hits Pai four times and a throw for about 80% damage. Brutal...

But I think a couple of those hits landed for MCs.

Pai's new moves look very good. They are very smooth... and some of them resemble Lau's, like after d/b+P she does some kind of palm. And she has some Helena/Xianghua inspired moves like the way she spins and sticks her arms out. And her new stance b+P+K+G seems rather useful. And the Great Wall of China stage doesn't look half bad really.

So far, I don't have the full clip yet. Only the first round of it (about 6MB instead of the full 22).

Hopefully, the full version of the file will be available soon, but it's just not happening at the moment for me. But for those that want to at least catch the first round:

listening to the 4th clip...I still cannot hear it clearly..but apparently..our commentators mentioned that on the beach...once opponent is on the ground..u can score an extra hit...kinda like 'taka only ' combo....
in this case...it's the 'beach only' combo

I could have heard it wrongly..but the commentator did mention beach and something else (which i still cannot hear clearly)
