VF5 360 Versus Mode Problem

Alright, so this may be a ridiculous question, but I can't figure it out for the life of me.

I play VF5 with my friends. We all have our custom characters on one profile in one save file. Is there a way in versus mode both 1p and 2p can both use the data from that profile, so we can both use custom characters?

If not, is there a way to transfer character data or something we can do to make this work?

No, you can not do that. No doing vs. match from the same profile. No transferring data.

What you need to do is create a second (third, fourth, etc.) profile on your machine (basically, one profile per friend). These profiles do not need to be enabled for LIVE. Your friends need to start new characters on their own profiles.

Then, to actually fight, you sign in, start VF5, and pick offline vs. mode. BEFORE you select a character, the person with second controller needs to press their Guide button and sign-in. THEN you both pick your characters - one from each profile.

actually there is a way. a guy did it at my house and told me how but I forgot. It has to do with p1 signing out at a specific time and p2 signing in with that profile.

I'll ask him again and post how to do it here.

Yeah Fulaani is right...Its sort of a tricky process but doable....

Load the game up like normal. Select the normal device you load the game from and get to the main menu. Now Log off the initial account. It will give you some warning about not being able to save and what not, just ignore. Now create an account or select a pre-existing account, regardless if it has VF data, any account is fine. Doing this you now have access to your normal save file but your on a random account. You can now move to versus character select menu. Use a second control to log in to your original account and bam, you can now play using the same data.

Oh and no worries about overwriting another file or anything, Xbox games save per account. Now saving per account with this could be tricky as well, that I have never tried. But I would think its the same process but reverse. Hope this helps.

Only there was a way to convert game data from what is on the memory card to the 360 console that would really help as well. I might try to use the trick you mentioned it beats having to redo the game for every profile you have thanks for the help.

YES THERE IS!!! but we just dont know HOW! my friends and i accidentally did something and next thing you know, BOTH 1P AND 2P were both signed on as CHIEF FLASH! after we saw that, we tested it by picking my custom wolf character (1p & 2p). and whaddayaknow?!?...freakin both custom characters at the same time, same profile! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

but again, this was stumbled upon by accident, and we do not know how to recreate what happened. sorry... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

If you mean transfer data from a memory card to the 360, replacing an old file, that can be done. I think. I will need to try this but the reason I believe it can be done is because of Culdacept. Its a new game that has the same versus issue as VF. Making a new profile and crap.

Few friends and I wanted to transfer our info from the card to the 360 then back so we could then go home and have the new data. We found that the data file in the hard drive breaks down into individual profiles, each with its on data. The memory card was the same format. So we popped in the memory card, moved to the system menu with hard drive access. We then moved to the designated profile, copied and saved over the memory card ( or hard drive, depending on where your moving from) file.

At first it was an annoying and confusing process, but after we figured it out then it was quite simple. I will test this tonight for VF, but i would say with confidence that this method would work fine for VF.

You do know I meant the game data saved on the HD and not the profile I know that the profile can come and go easily but the game data the profile loads up to bring up your achievements that is what I am talking about. For example my DOA4 game data is on my memory card and I can't bring it back to my console to use it unless I have the card connected to the 360. The profile says I did them but the data it draws upon is on a memory card not the HD. I hope this clears it up for you.

The memory card is no different from the HD. If you start a random game and save data to it then your saving both your profile data AND the game data.

In VF the game data is attached to the profile itself. If you were to go the system menu and view the save files for VF, on the HD or the memory card, you will see a simple root file titled VF. Then that file breaks into sub-file each labeled by profiles. Each contains its own set of data. You can easily transfer the sub-files back and forth, overwriting an individual profile and its data.

It sounds complicated but once you do it then its quite easy.
