VF5 Australian Championship at BAM - Couchwarriors

    Couchwarriors have announced their annual event: BAM! Battle Arena Melbourne.

    Virtua Fighter 5's Championship will be a DIY tournament on Saturday 10th October at BAM. Check out the site for the many excellent fighting game events.

    Here is the direct link to the VF thread on Couchwarriors, if you are making it down please post in the forum that you'll be playing! Tell your friends to join in some VF.

    SATURDAY 10th OCTOBER. 11am

    Double Elimination tournament. Free entry.

    Tournament settings:
    Each match will be best 2 out of 3
    Round setting: Best 3 out of 5

    There will be two Xbox setups with sticks, set to arcade default controls.

    DVD prizes for Top 4!

    blah, this problem is so simple to solve

    PLAN A) call in sick from wedding use wedding present money on flight instead!, with the rate of swine flu infections in Melbourne you probably will be sick by Sunday anyway so it wont even be a lie!

    PLAN B) go to wedding but skim some money off the wedding present to help with travel costs

    I can't miss the wedding - it's a close friend!

    OK I think I can get a cheap fare with Jetstar, but they fly into Avalon airport. That's pretty far from the CDB right? Is there public transport available from Avalon into the City? If so, then I might book a flight today!

    Looks like a bus from Avalon is the way to go -- $54 return ticket and a 50 minute travel time to the CBD.

    Just looking for cheap airfares now.

    JetStar have a return ticket for $150. It's the cheapest I've seen so far so I just might take it!

    Alex, any idea of how many people from Melbourne are likely to be there? You? Jeff? Obviously, the more people playing VF the more incentive for me to be there.

    Most likely the usual suspects that you've met in Melbourne before. Also Berzerk one of his friends, Mooseking, some of the Melbourne Soul Calibur players and the people that play at Couch Warriors. Should at least be better numbers than have even been at OHN :p.

    You've been to Melbourne before so you should have some idea of what you'll be getting if you come down.

    I want to book my ticket today and I'll be flying in and out on the Saturday. I guess I need your collective help to work out what time should I leave? I have to factor in roughly an hour to get from the City to Avalon airport, and need to be there an hour before check-in.

    There's a departure flight at 7:15 PM, which means I'd have to leave the city by 5 PM. I'm hoping this enough time for the tourney and some casuals after?

    What do you guys think?

    I'll email Bezerk as well since I don't know how regularly he checks here.
