VF5 cabinets in Arcades outside of Japan?!

Are there any VF5 cabinets in European/American arcades? If so, which arcades have them?

I would love to see a VF5 unit in London...

There are 2 vf5 arcade cabs in london trocadero, £1 a credit unfortunately so no one plays there, if they change it to 50p I will post here.

There is supposedly one VF5 cab at the gameworks in seattle, rumor is it's one of the DX cabs too. However, I haven't actually personally been down there to see it. There was some talk among the local players of hanging out down there... and then we realized we all already own xboxs and hori sticks, so it's cheaper to just meet at someone's house.

(I moved last week, and while it never occured to me before, I realized while writing this, that I'm now within walking distance of that particular gameworks... perhaps I will go check it out.)

That's not enough reason not to play the best arcade out there. If it was £3 a credit I could understand why no one would touch it!

Anyway - thanks for the information. I'll have to check it out one day.

I take it you've never played in the arcade in a competitive level?

    well consider this your either:

    1. playing against people of equal level so games come thick and fast, (i.e in your interest to win to save waiting and spending more cash so you would want to stay on) a tenner could be gone in less than 10 mins.

    2. your playing against people of higher skill level, you come away with for example 10 pound lost and no wins at a total playing time of less than 10 mins.

    3. most vf fans will have the game on 360, only reason to play in arcade would be live compo, but it has to be reasonably priced not everyone has notes falling out of their pockets.

Either way you look at it it's hardly inviting, 50p is just right price to entice people to play as has always been the standard for vs fighting games.

Wasn't there talk of it staying at £1 but giving 3 credits instead?

Mr_Expert, that's good news, I thought they had taken the cabinets away. Is anyone going to ATEI in a few weeks? There's a chance that the SEGA stand will have some VF5 machines. I went last year and played After Burner Climax until nausea.

One pound per credit is a bit high but still doable. Is the machine at least set to 3 round matches? but yeah, 50p for one credit and mayve 3 credits for 1 pound would be the best. there was a VF4 machine set like that in Brighton and it was heaven...

yeah for vs battle it's on the correct settings,
for cpu play however it's only set to 2 rounds.
I've tried to get them to change the credit settings but was unsuccessful on multiple occasions, perhaps if other people kept pestering them they will do it who knows?...

Yes, I'm aware of all this, but in all fairness I couldn't see too many people being at the skill level to keep on thrashing you at VF. There can't be that many expert players in London at one time. I'm sure VF veterans like ourselves would be able to stay on the machine more often than not. Here in Sheffield at a busy arcade (Wonderpark, Meadowhall) for example, I managed to stay on Street Fighter Alpha 2 for 23 wins against multiple good players back in 1996 - what chance is there that there were many other SF masters to kick me off at that one time in that one place? There were lots of good players but I was the best one. That cost me 50p for about an hour of play.

Every match you win, you don't have to pay. I suggest trying to win more than you lose. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Sorry, but I'll ignore the comment about never playing arcades at a competitive level. I've been playing arcades competitively since I can remember. Even when I was 7 years old I used to embarrass adults at SFII.

FFS here we go with ego's again lol
ok you had x many wins on street fighter alpha back in the day and beat adults as a child, well done! I'm really impressed!...,

did you even read my points as to why £1 being to expensive per credit is? ¬_¬

and yes I do know winner stays on doesn't have to pay funnily enough I have played in the arcade.
Tell you what next time your down london let's have a few games in the arcade and see how much you spend and whether you think it's worth it?

erm yes there was, I should know I was there during the vf4 days, where were you?

it's a matter of thinking for others.

X player stays on for long and get xx wins. good for him, and..eh... no need to think for the poor souls to waste their money getting beaten up, after all it is their fault to be rubbish, right?

however, you won't get much challenge at all if it's this pricing, meaning you'll be playing by yourself, doh!!!

    Exactly, which is what happened,
I play 3 dude's they lost and say "sorry would challenge more but it costs too much" i end up playing the cpu and get bored *shrugs*

It's good that we have 2 machines, so there can be maybe one for beginners to play on,
*broken record* it just needs to be changed to 50p to get more people playing. :p

Any chances of having it for free for a tournament?

I mean, we could pay a forfeit, maybe at least the same money they do in one day with the machine (which I reckon is probably not much), it would be very affordablr divided by say 10 people.

Also, is it version C? And how do the joystick and buttons feel compared to the EX2?

nah it's all been tried in the past,
unfortunately the management are notoriously difficult to deal with it as they don't operate under normal human logic,
best at the moment to hope for is that is get's changed to 50p which in itself is proving diffucult lol,
so running torni's there on freeplay well..I'd say good luck to whoever wants to try..

i think the best alternative to arcade cabinets are the displays/kiosks.. setup a couple of those and you can organize a tourney in a high school gym if you want to .. theres gotta be a way to organize a tourney without a real arcade or arcade machine using a few consoles and tvs or even someone having invested in a legit kiosk

i dont understand the fascination with arcade cabinets anyway.. if the 360 does it all minus a few items theyre forcing us to by id rather play with a controller or hori stick anyway.. at least youd have some options
