    Hahaha, 221 on the button.

EDIT: Also, it's weird I don't see many double evades atm. Maybe people don't feel comfortable with strings yet but there's a lot of 1-2s, or 1-2-3s that they would benefit doing it on.

That was a wall juggle. Both Fighters have improved. Wolf has gotten a whole lot faster. To bad this game is not coming to consoles.

Jin's videos are great to watch! But in particular:

Well worth watching the lovely trickery at the end!

This mirror is against Kyasao and it's a great match! Nice to see him still playing and I love how he deals with Jin's off the wall antics too [IMG]

Here's a couple more from Jin:

The wall combo @ 0:54 is just pure sexiness. I just realised, even if we by some miracle get FS, i'll likely never ever get to play VF5R [IMG]

Just a quick announcement that you can now embed nico video URLs in your posts using the markup:

    <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Code:</div><div class="ubbcode-body ubbcode-pre" ><pre>[video:nico] http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/smXXXXXXXX [/video]</pre></div></div>

Note that you won't see the embedded video when you "preview", but it will be there when you submit the post.

Repost from the front page, so everyone will see it (Hint: start reading the front page more often [IMG] )

Central 8 in Hachioji, Tokyo recently held their first Final Showdown tournament and uploaded the footage to Nico Douga. The arcade just started uploading tournament footage online, so have a looksie! According to official webpage, they didn't really advertise the tournament, but managed to get 20 entries.

On a side note, thanks to Myke, we're now able to embed Nico Nico Douga videos on the forum, so even if you don't have an account on that site you can still enjoy their content!

Have the changes in the gameplay mechanics resulted in 2p being a more effective weapon?

I cannot help but notice in the videos of high level play for vf5 FS there seems to be a ton of 2p'ing. Like the shun player with zangief in his name wins one of his matches vs shu by 2p 5 times in a row. A lot of these high level players are 2p'ing as much or more than our own players like Starnab, whose 2p'ing tendencies had him being criticized by even respected vf players who rarely take the time to post here.

For all the improvements made to graphics and animations, it's getting to the point where the matches don't look as skillful (at least from my vf5 analysis standards) or as entertaining on account of the massive amount of 2p in favor of defense.

2p has always been used heavily in Jap VF from what I know, but my VF analyzing skills aren't too hot.

it's always been used a lot by high level players, but I do agree ever since R I've noticed that it's used a lot more than usual.... reminds me of the VF2 days were a lot of flow charting was based around 2P.

FS looks fun and I'd welcome it if we saw a console release. But honestly if I had to chose between R and FS I'd pick R. I know it's very silly for me to say that considering I've never played either of them, but R just seems so much more exciting than FS.

Aside from the new moves I'm not really that impressed. Of course as I see more and the players figure out more things, new strats, etc I'm sure my feelings will probably change again and I'll want FS over R! [IMG]

I just think R has a cooler presentation.

The difference between high level 2P usage and scrub level 2P usage isn't so much the frequency, but the thought behind it. High level uses it purposefully at certain points to interupt and setup depending on the situation, often times hit checking block or hit (even on the defensive end).

Scrub level uses 2P as a panic, 'please stop attacking, I'm just gonna keep doing this for a bit till I can move again' thought of mind haha.
