VF5 FS... how does it calculate rank?

Now I don't want to come across as elitist/salty or anything, but yesterday I was going through the Leaderboards (as you do) and within the top 100 players were names I've fought, beaten and whenever I try to play them, they always boot me.

So my question is exactly how does 'rank' get calculated? Its not merely BP, as thats on a separate list, is it a mix of total fights, wins versus losses and battle points?

I'm just finding it crazy that some players that I know I'm better than are in the top 100, and I'm not even in the top 1000. Is it because I fight everyone and take all my losses as well as my wins? I dunno, if the ranking system is open to abuse like this then it renders it meaningless.

Anyway clarification would be cool, it shouldn't matter to me, online rank and all, but really? It does.

Rank is based on your ranke name and your BP. Name class comes first then BP. If you're fighting people who have a different color name than you do you're not going to gain much rank from fighting them, so that's probably why you'll find them booting you. Fight people close to your name rank and you'll rank up faster. Then those people who were booting you will probably fight you since it'll matter more in terms of ranked points gained.

Cheers for that, actually the main culprit who always boots me s the same rank as me, we were both Barbarians (or something) at the time, but I was consistantly beating him. Shame as well, because its not like the fights were particularly one sided, IIRC they were good fights.

Rank name makes sense, that guy is an Assassin now or something, which would explain why he's way up there. I'm still only a Defender, but I pretty much fight all challengers (actually thats a lie, I boot those with particularly bad reps or if I remember them pulling on me previously) which means I believe my win/loss record is 540/440 or thereabouts.

Not that I put much stock in that either, if I fight somebody who monstered me I'll still play them again and again (assuming they'll play me) so I can learn new stuffs, so hey. Winning doesn't mean as much to me as getting good fights.

    :)
