Finally, VF5 went by TekkenR in Japan and is now ranked as the number 2 arcade game in Japan (behind damn Gundamn which is insanely popular). Tekken is on it's way out with machines being taken away, the king is back. All hail the king.

Gundam is by far the most popular arcade game right now by a huge margin....

It's doubtful if VF5 can surpass Gundam this time. We'll see.

 

Yea, if it surpasses gundam that'll be a feat.

Gundam actually moved PSPs in Japan, and that's pretty amazing by itself!

 

Gundam popularity is so huge that it even makes the PSP sell in Japan.

Fear it fools.

BTW: Surprises me how popular Melty Blood is and how populer Street Fighter 3 - 3rd Strike still is.

 

It's not because of the license alone, the Gundam arcade game is amazing 2 vs 2 action.

 

wa da? Hokuto no Ken is still sitting on #8? That is broken, lol! Congrats to AM2 and VF5, but we have to see if it could still stand on top of upcoming new waves of fighting games: GGXX Accent Core, Samurai Shodown 3D, Battle Fantasia, KOF XII, and Tekken 6.

Competition should be strong though. I can't wait for Samurai Shodown 3D! I heard Tekken 6 is going straight to console, so AM2 might not have to worry so much about that.

 

That Gundam game actually looked pretty damn awesome when I watched it in the arcades...I even picked up the PS2 version of the first game, too bad it doesn't allow 2v2 human players :/

 

Yeah I know, Gundam is an amazing game, I wish they would put a system link option for the new one... It's really too bad that we don't have this in the western world.

Up here, we've got the game in four linked cabs, in at least two different places. It's really popular and gets played...though as for myself, I haven't touched it yet. The game just doesn't seem that interesting to me.

 

Where's up here? LA? LA only has the old one.

I've heard it was going straight to console as well. Thinking of Namco's recent experience with the SC3 debacle I'd have thought they wouldn't make that move again. Then again, if they're as J-minded as AM2 they might not give a hoot and do it again.

But Fishie, you picked up a source that said T6 was coming out in arcades first? That's a byte I'd love to have a link to, news on T6 is rather scarce I'd say. (Apart from that prerendered movie that looks worse than VF5's in game graphics ^_^ Maybe that's why Namco decided to play it slow for a while.)

 

Urm, the prerendered movie which was first claimed to be ingame was out of this world, its the work in progress realtime one that looked horrible.

And I have no link, its trough the grapevine stuff I hear as a freelance games journo.

 

Ok, well.....T6 was delayed from the PS3 launch. It;s rumoured to see a Spring '07 launch for PS3 (could the release of VF:5 have something to do with this?), but.....it is a safer bet that it will be delayed even further until perhaps summer-fall(X-mas season). This has NOT been confirmed, but is the last I heard.

Highly unlikely T6 is coming to Arcades. Since Namco announced it as a PS3 launch title....then delayed it. Ya know?

I forget the website.....but they released several launch titles for PS3. Supposedly, they were confirmed by the companies. (in this case, Namco.) This was awhile ago. Later on, Namco delayed the release. No release has been given. Tekken fans were hoping for some info from E3...but got that shitty trailer and no actual Game info. Such is life.

If I lived In japan I would be all over this, VF 5 and SF 3.
