As expected, VF5 will be released in July.

The pricing details are as follows.

    3,214,000 yen ($27,190 USD) - A complete set including 4 play cabinets, 1 VF terminal, 1 VF.TV.

VF5 Kits will be available in August and it will cost between 140,000 ~ 168,000 yen ($1,184 ~ 1,421 USD).

Kit will work with Versus, Blast City, Naomi/Net, or new Net cabinets.

Unfortunately, the prices DO NOT include the cost for the software itself. VF5 software itself will be rental only.

Yes, it's set in stone that software will be rental only, at least for now.

I thought renting games was ilegal in Japan.

This is rental from the manufacturer, which I guess you can call lease. Regardless, this is not game rental from block busters.

I'm guessing that Sega is making it rental only to lower the cost of the initial investment. Better to stomach a low monthly subscription fee than a high up front cost, so that smaller arcades only have to purchase the kit to get VF5 up and running.

Yeah, cheap ass kit compared to the insanely powerful PC's you need today to play PC games that don't even look nearly as good. Well, Vista is coming and DX10 will change that. Sega did an amazing job though with lindberg.

wow, a 6800GT card to run the lindberg, awesomeness. I can't wait to see DX10 in action, I've seen some early footage of it but I want more. Can't wait to see Vista either, not like I'm gonna get it anytime soon though.
