2009 was a long year for me. I went from playing VF almost religiously to not playing it at all within the span of three months, simply because the local hype for the game died down not too long after I joined the scene (I'm not that scary, am I?).

So I played my BlueBallz and my Scrub Fighter IV and my 3D Melty Blood, but nothing really brought me the thrill that VF did. Maybe Guilty, but that's about it.

Long story short, I AM FUCKING FED UP WITH SCRUBBY ASS GAMES AND THEIR SCRUBBY ASS SCENES. I've been playing fighting games for roughly three years now and this is going to be my first Evo (I am going no matter what, you can bet on it), and I want this shit to have everything I want to be there, even if it means bringing it myself.

I'm back into VF all over again (mostly because of Tekken 6, strangely enough) and I wanna bring back the hype. If we want R we need to fucking show it, and a side tourney at Evo is probably the single best way to breathe life back into this dead ass game.

Look at what the GGAC side tourney in 08 did for the scene. They lost their spot after 07 was the most boring ass grand finals EVER; and in 08? Their side tourney OUT-ATTENDED TEKKEN FOR FUCKS SAKE.

So yeah, I want this shit to go down. You can tell because I'm using actual punctuation, bold and CAPITAL LETTERS. I am dead fucking serious. If you can all show me the same level of seriousness, I will run this shit all by myself. I've ran so many GG tournaments I can't even be assed to count them.

And don't even lie, I know some of you are gonna be there for some shitty ass game, so the least you could do is help bring back hype for what is legitimately the best fighting game out there.

Sign up ITT, and if we can get at least 16 confirmed heads for this shit it is going down, GUARANTEED.

I said "shit" and "ass" more times in that post than I have in nearly 500 posts on this forum.

Coz, steal a car, get involved with ponzi schemes, whatever. You need to show me how Jacky's done because nobody else will.

Not to hype my own tournament, but I honestly think you'd be better off having a VF5 tournament at DEVASTATION. If you have a side tournament at EVO, it won't be streamed, none of the thousands of people watching will see it, and most of the mass media will probably overlook it. Unless you're in the main lineup you're not really in the EVO spotlight.

If we hold VF5 at DEV, you'd get on the stream and be in the spotlight. Our stream last year had 180,000 people watching over the three day event. In addition, we're trying to get Sega to support with a VF5:r cabinet. While that's unlikely to happen (IMO), we'll at least be able to point them to a recording of the stream if we have a VF5 tournament.

    Just something to think about...

If we get enough people, we could probably get it streamed. I do have hookups for that kind of thing.

We just got a new game announced so now we REALLY have to bring the hype.

But before we can do that, we need people ton show up.

The chances of getting VF5:r are slim now that the new game has been announced. However, we've shifted our resources to getting the new game instead of R.

It basically depends on what Sega has at E3. If they have FS playable at E3 (even in arcade form), there's a decent chance we can get it at DEV as well. We're looking into it and I'll let everyone know if we make some progress on it.

Last year we had Tekken 6 and KoF12 early, so hopefully we can duplicate that with VF this year.

This post was so needed and something I've pondered posting as well. Kudos quash for taking the initiative!

Some like Rodney will know that I have been part of the Street Fighter scene since the very first official tournament in Northbrook, IL back in 1994. (Side note: most probably know but if you want a blast from the past check out the video footage my group took from over 15 years ago, http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=FE02A21874EB6DE4.)

I can't tell you why but I've never been to Vegas for EVO. But I can tell you this, my likelihood of going would change dramatically if VF was there. I know it was a there a few years ago but my experience with VF5 was very limited. I remember playing it in Northbrook, IL that year for the qualifiers and Yosuke whopped me bad. Unfortunately I had probably only logged about 10 hours of playing it at that time.

I agree with the ranting of how VF isn't nearly as possible as it should be in the United States!! It sickens me actually. Is it laziness, ignorance, who knows?

For the longest time, even while playing the VF series, I still considered myself a Street Fighter player, but within the last few years, and maybe because competition is now available because of XBox Live & PS3, I absolutely consider myself a VF player if I had to choose only one. Don't get me wrong, SF will always be a part of my blood, particularly only Super Turbo, but VF has always kept me thoroughly entertained from each version to the next.

...BEST FIGHTING GAME OF ALL TIME!

Count me in as joining in on VF at EVO. I'll be there and most def I will help out in any way for this. I'll also have my laptop with me so if you decide to stream lets do this and also hype it up.

    glad to hear guys!

we do really need to get hype about this. i mean, i know it's hard, playing a game three years out of date now, but it's not like it makes vf5 less of a game.

still need to fill out a bracket, though.

unfortunately, due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts (as well as increases in airfare + room prices), i will not be at evo as i had planned to be. [IMG]

still, if enough of you guys are gonna be there, you should definitely get something started in the byoc room.
