    It appears the ranking system is based on the arcade FS ranking system (which with the console release appears to be getting an adjustment of some sort). Listed is the known ranks from arcade (24 named ranks to achieve, no branching) and the English equivalent that have been gained so far in the console version of the game. Note: the English rank names in console are not literal translation of the Japanese ranks. As people get higher ranks, please post it here so that we can update the list. Thanks

    級。 Kyu Group [2 White Characters / No rectangle background]
    十級 - 一級 10th Kyu to 1st Kyu

    段。 Dan Group [2 White Characters / No rectangle background]
    初段 - 十段 1st Dan to 10th Dan

    士。 Shi Group [2 White Characters / Wood (light brown) Background]
    錬士 1 Star - Hunter
    烈士 2 Star - Raider
    傑士 3 Star - Barbarian

    者。 Mono Group [2 White Characters / Light Grey Background]
    強者 1 Star - Defender
    猛者 2 Star - Sentinel
    王者 3 Star - Guardian

    Can you drop back to 10 dan from Hunter? Someone said it doesnt happen.. that Hunter is the bottom line once you get past 10dan?

    In the arcades - 10th Kyu to 10th Dan were all obtainable by playing single player modes. This is different from past Virtua Fighters. That is likely the reason why in the console version you cannot lose the Hunter rank - because the hunter rank is where the true promotion/demotion matches begin.

    Playing just one ranked match gets you an achievement. But yeah, I think it has to do with those leader boards.

    Thanks. When people post the new ranked names can you also mention how may red dots are under their name?

    Currently have
    Guardian - (one red dot?)
    Assassin - (two red dot?)

    Just found the Guardian online again. It had a silver background with 3 red dots. Hope that helps.

    is the level up system the same like in vanilla?
    in VF5 you only can level with + or - 2 ranks from your own.
    i'm atm 10. dan, can i only level with:

    8. dan
    9. dan
    10.dan (<- me)
    hunter's
    raider's

    is there a list somewhere?

    To me it seems like you can only level with people above Hunter if you already passed the 10. dan. I fought a few dans after becoming hunter and nothing happened at all.

    You get a lot of experience if you win though.
    Also I havent seen anything but hunters, raiders and stuff. Doesnt look like there are the below 70% and above 80% ranks anymore.
    Plus: I believe I was above 80% when I ranked up and Im still just a hunter.
