Alright well we probably should discuss plans about this in earnest now.

A lot of players/scenes do this for other games and it would be great if we could too. I think just getting the more charismatic and entertaining players up on twitch.tv with their own channels playing and commentating would be a great way to get more people interested. I'm not really one of them but I'm going to try anyway.

The equipment is kinda pricey (I'm not too well-versed on it at all either) but it has a whole 4 months to go down in price! Cool.

all offline sessions done at my place will be streamed shortly after we learn the game a little. I'd say about 30 days or so after it's out.

by the way all NYC offline sessions are sponsored by FTT Anytime Energyâ„¢ Barz. The NYC players will be working with this company to hopefully do some wonderful things together when FS drops. If you love VF and you love this community then take care of it's members by at least visiting the FTT Anytime Energyâ„¢ Barz website.

Btw what equipment are you planning to use? I'd really like to capture in 720p if possible.

This thread is about streaming VF5FS matches on Twitch.tv and its ilk. I will buy 999 of your bars if you talk about that instead.

I only brought it up because Rod brought it up but point taken! [IMG]

I personally cannot wait for FS streams to start - Rod is willing to make this a personal passion and the community develops and prospers under that passion!

    Go streaming!!!

720p most likely will require a pretty top of the line computer. I think is also depends on what program you plan to use to stream. If you are looking simply for a video stream without fancier live broadcast softwares:

Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder (Free and better than most video streaming programs you have to pay money for quality stream). Jaxel from 8WayRun wrote a fairly detailed Building Your Own Stream articles (3 parts) that has helped me figured out my setup.

Alright I'm already getting baffled here with the Hauppauge and Black Magic Intensity things here.

These look like it does what I need them to do but the negative reviews on the first seem to direct me to buy another product (gotta love paid astroturfing in Amazon reviews) but I've heard it mentioned more often than the latter. -

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815100097

Also the potential hassle, poor support and the cost of these things make me a bit reluctant to buy anything. Also going with something that breaks HDMI's encryption seems to jack up the price considerably. Why can't I have it all [IMG]

Edit: Twitch.tv has its own capturing software called Xsplit. It's great for capturing stuff straight off my desktop scaled down to around 720p and the only time it slows down is when a game with punkbuster detects its recording as a cheat.

Are you gonna advertise these streams elsewhere other than this site???

I really don't know as far as I'm concerned I know nothing about getting people to watch other than basic things like playing at the same time every day and being entertaining to watch (a challenge itself i tell ya what).

Just take a note from STA Ranbats... They make some mad hype video and show off a big ass jpeg and post on every FG site a week or so in advance... Then the day of the stream, just make sure the commentator is hype, too...

All you need is Xplit, I use it all the time. Awesome little little software.

    I did a test a while ago http://www.twitch.tv/suddendeath/b/286195805

I use an internal card from Avermedia:
    http://www.amazon.com/Avertv-Definition-Analog-Capture-MTVHDDVRR/dp/B002SQE1O0

very inexpensive BUT! you do need a reasonably powered computer. Do not expect to use this card with a Pentium 4 with any real performance. console streaming is no problem at all with this. what i cant do is stream PC games nicely, they are choppy and usually crash my pc. i would need an even better pc for that to run well.

Yeah I'm a big dork with a GAYMEN RIG so Xsplit might be the way to go for me a person who thinks $300 is a reasonable price for a graphics card.

Definitely getting the WORST streams going, go streams go! By the way there's going to be a vanilla tourney the last Sunday of the month in Philadelphia. We will be streaming VF even if we have 6 people. I'll post up!

It's not about money as I'm not getting paid to do anything. If I were to make money I can assure you it will be used to throw a offline tourney for FS.

I love this community and if it's members need my help to make it grow or to make there own business adventure then I will gladly help where I can.

FS can be big... but we have to make it happen. I really hope 2012 is the year people stop talking and saying that they are going to come out to events and seriously start showing up.

Cool. I was also being pretty facetious about the whole promotion thing, then GE had to come in and powersauce it up. I couldn't resist. Also that jerky is legitimately good stuff!

The WORST stream? You should get on skype with gokunodan and put it into the mix.

Rodney brought up my relationship with NYC events and I wanted people to know that anything anyone bought from my product line contributed to the community through events and cash prizes.

I just dipped my fingers in the existing sauce and stirred it around a little. (eww)

and then I talked about streaming so you owe me an order of 999 bars. [IMG]
