VF5FS vs The World

I just heard COD black ops has went over $600 million in sales in
one week and that tops the record of MW2 last year.

These blockbuster games, Fallout, COD,Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Starwars Unleashed, UFC 2009/2010, Rockstar whatever, are selling millions of copies and making millions of dollars within the first few months of release. Every video game producer and publisher is watching these McDonald's type numbers. Everybody want a piece of that pie. They all want in.

How will we ever see VF5FS come to consoles under these conditions. Sega has to be watching. COD 600 million in one week. Sega has got to want a piece of that pie too. They all do

I was tempted to think that fighting games can't push those kinds of numbers, but between UFC 2009/2010 and EA's MMA you're easily talking $15-20 million sales. How can VF5FS compete with this Sega has to know the MMA fighting
games are selling millions of units within the first 3 months.

More and more game shows pass and no VF5FS, the holiday season advertising has already started no VF5FS. Maybe the age of the blockbuster video game means the end of anything that's not gonna produce Mcdonald's type numbers.

If VF5FS was released this Christmas would it even reach 500,000 units sold for the year. Compare this to COD's over 5 million units sold in 24 hours..

Would the Sega shareholders even allow Sega to produce VF5FS for the consoles while all the other game companies are looking for that next big blockbluster

I'm wondering should I buy my extra copies of VF5 now(while they're still available), because it might be the last one ever produced for the PS3.

I could be wrong in fact, in this instance I hope I'm wrong, but it just seems like the argument to produce VF5FS for the consoles just won't be good enough in the face of these hundred million dollar blockbusters. Everybody is worried about profits, and earnings. VF generates profits in the arcades so why even try to compete with the console world.

No put that money to good use buy a 360 with VF5 and quit lying to yourself. Maybe your ass would'nt be bored playing the CPU all day then bitching how Online is fucking up the integrity of the game when you never even experienced it.



Beside this thread is stupid.Its been talked to death about how other games sell. COW:BO is built off the hype machine that got it running. Advertisement got the game where it is with a good online component for noobs.

Put the pebble down... nobody wants to snatch a worthless rock anymore without some kind of achievement or award.

Here's my next question

If it really is financially unrealistic to expect a totally new
VF for the console, is there a possibility that they might patch the PS3 so that it has online I know that the XBL harem doesn't care about PS3 online, but if I remember the sales figures, PS3 VF5 out sold VF on XBL (at least at one point that was the case)

Or.....

Is future DLC a possibility even if no new versions were ever coming....

The main reason VF doesn't do well is due to SEGA's lack of promoting the game... in fact ANY GAME that isn't a Sonic title.
I don't remember seeing anything for Bayonetta and Vanquish.

Bayonetta was promoted at an UFC event. They had Bayonetta logos on the mat and I think they even paid to have the announcers mention it from time to time.

I don't know much about how much running an ad like that during an UFC even would cost but I'm guessing it costs a lot of moolah.

I don't think the real issue is why VF doesn't do well. The real issue is whether games with mediocre to good sales can even stand a chance against these block buster titles like COD Black ops. $600 million in the first week. I don't think any amount of advertising could get VF to sell anywhere close to $600 million in one week.

Will Sega bring VF5FS to the consoles, or will they save their production money looking for something that can make big money like COD black ops, Fallout, or ACB


I think if Sega even thought VF5FS could 1 million copies in the first week, that we would already have the console version.
